I work most of the times using my desktop PC. I rarely use this Acer Swift Go 14 that I bought 2 months ago. Sometimes it I just keep it on the shelf for more than two weeks. By the time I turn on the laptop, the battery already zero. In the old days we can remove the battery whenever we don't want to use it for long time. What should I do with Acer Swift G0 14 when I want to keep on the shelf for long time without draining the battery too much.

Hi Kamal, battery draining when not connected to the charger should not be more than <2%/day so even after 1 month of storage there should not be an issue, if you store longer than 1 month, start the laptop once a month and charge to 100% then completely shut down again (don't suspend) or open the laptop and take the battery out.

Mr Puraw, I observed that within 24 hours my laptop battery losing 6% after completely shutdown even after I already uninstall acer apps, uncheck hibernate, uncheck fast startup. Do I need to disable the fast boot in the bios also?

Hi, Fast Boot is not related to Power Plan/suspend mode but these 3 Wake options in BIOS are:

Disable these 3 Wake options in BIOS and in Device Manager check your Network and Bluetooth device Properties-Power Management that the box Allow this PC to turn off this device to save power is checked, also check the USB controllers and reset your Power Plan to factory default as you have something turned on or you are not completely shut down. Another possibility is that your battery meter is off, uninstall these 2 battery drivers in Device Manager and just reboot, don't go by HWINFO or Acer Care Center battery data, only trust Windows battery Report.

    Hi Kamal

Were you able to resolve this issue? May I ask which step you took to fix it?

I just recently bought the laptop and notice that if I leave it for a few days, by the time I turn on the laptop it is always LOW BATTERY.

Is it a laptop issue that I should be taking back or is it a settings issue?

Usually the issue can be traced to either something plugged into the always on port or an active network to allow for Wake on LAN.

Nothing is plugged into the port. How do I check for the 'active network to allow for Wake on LAN'?

I turn the laptop off properly too and have checked for everything and can't figure out why it is draining the battery while un-used. My IPAD lasts longer than the laptop when unused and that is just on lock screen.

Get to the properties page for your WLAN and look for Wake on LAN settings on it. Normally that is enabled and for it to work you have to have the network connected even when the laptop is turned off.

It has reduced the amount it is dropping, previously around 10-15% a day (turned off), and now it is around 5%. Is this normal?

For your Acer Swift Go 14, when you're planning to store it for an extended period, here are some best practices to preserve the battery health:

    1. Charge the Battery to Around 50%: Lithium-ion batteries, like the one in your laptop, are best stored with a charge of about 40-60%. This helps prevent deep discharge or overcharging, both of which can reduce battery lifespan.
    2. Turn Off the Laptop Completely: It's best to turn off the laptop entirely instead of leaving nettotasca.it in sleep or hibernation mode. This reduces any background processes that might slowly drain the battery.
    3. Store in a Cool, Dry Place: Avoid storing the laptop in places that are too hot or cold. A temperature range of 20-25°C (68-77°F) is ideal.
    4. Avoid Storing It Fully Charged or Fully Drained: Storing your laptop with either a full charge or an empty battery can negatively impact battery life. Always aim for about 50% charge.
    5. Check the Battery Occasionally: If you plan to leave it for several months, it’s a good idea to check the battery charge level every 1-2 months and recharge it if needed to keep it in the 40-60% range.

Unfortunately, on most modern laptops like your Acer Swift Go 14, the battery is not easily removable, so you’ll have to follow these guidelines to ensure it stays healthy during long periods of non-use.

Disable these 3 Wake options in BIOS and in Device Manager check your Network and Bluetooth device Properties-Power Management that the box Allow this PC to turn off this device to save power is checked, also check the USB controllers and reset your Power Plan to factory default as you have something turned on or you.

Likely there is still something active when shutdown and since you were able to drop it from 15% to 5% with the Wake on LAN settings for the WiFi, try looking to see if the Bluetooth also has Wake on LAN enabled. If so, that would explain the last 5%, or at least most of it…

    Thank you

Ive gone through the whole thing and looked for where it may be ticked. Looks like under Network there was still 1 ticked. Hoping thats what causing it. The rest are already off.

Thank you! I've disable another one that I noticed under Power Management. Hopefully that was the issue.

Laptop is brand new so it must have enabled as a standard.

Yes, both the WiFi and Bluetooth Wake on LAN would be enabled by default.

Reduction of roughly 5% per day is still happening.

Nothing plugged in, shut off properly. Gone through everything in Device Manager to check every individual item so there is nothing enabled that shouldnt be. Think I am going to give up on it, at least it is much better than before. Ive even googled what else I could possible turn off but looks like everything listed has been done.

I was dropping near full battery in a week back then, as least now its only going to be roughly 35%
