Acer predator helios neo16 no display after ram upgrade

Hello. I installed a new stick of ram and installed an additional ssd. When powering on keyboard came on, fans were spinning and blue power indicator light was blinking, but no display. Put back original ram and removed the additional ssd and powered back on, but still no display. Tried removing battery, removing cmos battery, let sit for 30 minutes, reconnected…still no display, no post. Any help would be appreciated.

According to Crucial, the DDR5 models need time for machine learning to recognize the new modules.
If possible, remove the lithium battery, the CR2032 battery, press Power for 30s, connect the new modules, reconnect the batteries and turn on the laptop. Wait a few minutes.

Thank you. I did all that but did not work. However, I did some research and was finally able to boot the laptop by holding the windows key and 'b' key while pressing the power button. It booted straight to windows. But now everytime I have to power on after a shut down I need to do the same key combination. Now I need to figure out a fix for that.

Take the ram out and reinsert it again and then reboot the laptop again and wait and be patient, if and after the laptop doesn't boot in about 3min press the TUBO top switch on the laptop, as that speeds the boot process up and your laptop should boot. I experienced this also with the 64GB Crucial kit for my PHN16-71 model' ram upgrade.

    TURBO key

The PHN16-71 came oem with 2x 8GB DDR5-4800MT/s CL40 type ram, if you want to increase the ram 8GB + 16GB total of 24GB, I suggest that you don't do that as the laptop will not work in dual channel, I've got the same laptop that I've upgraded to 64GB total ram and it works perfectly, I suggest that you have equal ram in each slot and either buy the Crucial 2x 16GB DDR5-4800MT/s CL40 for 32GB or 2x 32GB DDR5-4800MT/s. Good luck and hope this helps you out further .

Thank you. Will look into the ram combination.

In reality, the Dual Channel does work with memories of different sizes, the point is that it works up to the maximum size of the smallest module, if the application needs more memory, then the module with the highest capacity is used, being in single channel. But for a better experience and maximum performance, the ideal is that there are two equal modules.

With you upgrading your oem 8GB DDR5-4800MT/s with an additional “16GB DDR5-4800MT/s”, your total recognized RAM will be 24GB, but only 8GB DDR5 will work in dual channel while the 16GB will work in a single channel so adding the extra 16GB will not give you any speed advantage. So that is why I suggested that you buy the same capacity for full dual channel operation as that is the best, like I’ve done on my PHN16-71 laptop with 2x 32GB DDR5-4800MT/s as it runs in full 64GB dual channel . Good luck.

Note - In dual-channel mode, two RAM sticks communicate simultaneously on separate channels to operate your computer and run programs significantly faster. Therefore, running in dual-channel memory will provide a significant performance boost to your PC, regardless of the actual size of your RAM.
