Following windows security update KB2267602 (v. 1.421.1630.0) which installed on 31-Jan-2025, my thunderbolt port on my Aspire A515-57 is no longer recognized.

My Bios is the current version.

Any ideas on how to fix the issue please?

Thanks

Hi, that update is an automatic Definition update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus that should not affect the system. The latest BIOS version for your laptop is 1.28 dated 2024/07/26. You can't uninstall definition updates, but you can try to restore your system to before 30 January 2025 that may revert Defender to an earlier state, but I am not sure, type Restore in Search and click on "Create a restore point" and on "System Restore", with a date. If you have System Protection set to disabled, this won't work. What TBT device is not working on the USB-C port? Check the Device and Cables: Ensure that the Thunderbolt device and cables are properly connected and not damaged. Verify that the device is powered on if it requires an external power source.
Enable Thunderbolt (TBT) Gain in BIOS Advanced screen, you have to press Ctrl+S first to show the hidden options.
Update Drivers: Make sure your BIOS, Windows, and Thunderbolt drivers are all up to date.
Go online and paste these 2 commands in the command prompt opened as administrator: Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth that should complete successfully then paste this: SFC /scannow in the command prompt and hat should complete with "….did not find any integrity violations", repeat SFC till you see that message.

Thanks. I have a Thinkpad thunderbolt dock that I use to switch between a work Dell win 10 and a personal Acer win 11. The dock still works with the Dell but no longer with the Acer.

I ran through the above steps, however there is still no response at the Acer thunderbolt port

I did not have an earlier restore point configured

I saw on another thread that a power reset had helped with the port. Having performed the steps that you had kindly provided (which hopefully fixed the issue, especially the advances BIOS setting), I then hit the battery reset button underneath the laptop.

    The port is now working.

    Thank you so much!
