Slim DVD writer won't fit in Bracket, Is it possible to modify Bracket to fit in Acer TC-1785?

I see people posting how it’s done but any of those slim dvd writers will not fit into the bracket that came with computer as drive is too long. I have a slim internal drive and pulled out bracket which verifies that drive is too long to sit properly into slot. Unless you damage bracket to allow dvd writer to be put in?

They don't show a good picture of it in the service guide, but I believe the drive is supposed to stick out of that bracket. That allows for the front bezel of the computer…

I think it was a mistake on their part as computer comes with its own door for dvd drive and the slot to slide drive into is not wide enough. So unless you pry open bracket it won’t work.

What is the thickness of your DVD drive? It should be 9.5mm IIRC.

    It's 12.7 mm

Then that is the issue… Most slimline drives are 9.5mm, only some old ones are the thicker style.
