You really want to upgrade this old windows 7 laptop? Performance will gradually decline by 2027 in basic tasks.
Investing in upgrades for this model provides minimal performance improvement. Buying a new laptop would be more beneficial for long-term usability and performance.

Hi, your laptop supports up to 16GB DDR3L (2x8GB) so you can replace the 4GB module and upgrade to 2x8GB, 2Rx8 DDR3 PC3L-12800 204pin CL=11 DDR3-1600 1.35V SODIMM or add another 4GB 2x 4GB=8GB DDR3L,1Rx8 DDR3 PC3L-12800 204pin CL=11 DDR3-1600 1.35V SODIMM. If you add a 4GB RAM module is has to be the same brand, part number etc. otherwise the 2nd module won't be detected. Aspire E E5-573 Memory Upgrade - Acer E5-573 Aspire E Laptop Memory
Replace the 1TB HDD with a 2TB Samsung 870 Evo V-NAND 2.5" Sata-3 SSD and this old laptop will be a lot faster.

Thanks for your suggestion, same part number kingston 4GB RAM not available in market. Can i use different manufacturer RAM? Can i use 500GB SSD?

Hi, you can use any RAM module brand as long as you buy a set of 2x4 or 2x8 DDR3L-1600MHz modules, just follow the 1.35 voltage and CL=11 that I mentioned. 500GB SSD no issues.

As software becomes more complex and resource-intensive, this dual-core 2.0 GHz processor will gradually struggle to maintain smooth performance. Your 2015 Acer laptop with the Intel Core i3-5005U processor is now a decade old in 2025, placing it firmly in technological obsolescence.
While currently adequate for basic tasks like web browsing, document editing, and multimedia consumption, the processor's capabilities will diminish. Its 14nm architecture and limited computational power mean it will increasingly lag behind newer software requirements. By 2026-2027, you'll likely notice significant slowdowns, reduced multitasking efficiency, and challenges running modern applications.
Investing in upgrades like additional RAM or an SSD will provide good temporary relief in speed and response but cannot fundamentally address the underlying technological limitations.
Also, You are using windows 7 which is already expired and no longer supported by Microsoft + windows 10 support will also end before 2026 and your laptop won't able to run windows 11 as it is not supported. Running windows 10 or 7 now-a-days and you will get-
- No security updates
- Increased vulnerability to malware
- Higher risk of cyber attacks
- No technical support from Microsoft
- Potential data breach risks
- Potential system instability
The UK's National Cyber Security Centre strongly recommends upgrading or replacing devices running unsupported operating systems to protect personal and sensitive information.
My view-
Since you said you are going to upgrade this 2015 laptop, I think you are not in the gaming field. So, you don't have to get a gaming laptop but to get any good laptop with no dedicated GPU (dGPU) which has a powerful CPU with integrated GPU (iGPU) can easily fulfill your requirements and will run longer and efficiently. The good thing is that these types of laptops can be got at a good price and value. I recommend amd system laptops.
