Hello, Everyone.

I have a Acer Predator Helios Neo 16, Which NVMe gives best performance and long durability (also safe) for this laptop? My Laptop has 2 nvme slots and one of c: is ordinary samsung nvme model while no NVMe in my second slot because my second NVMe (TeamGroup) was removed due of unreadable.

While still waiting for my TeamGroup arrived, i still looking for other recommended second NVMe that recommended for this laptop not just for gaming but also saves valuable and important data.

The best that I’ve found from personal experience over many years is the Samsung SSDs drives, as I’ve been using them for 8 years now for both 2.5” SATA 3 SSD format drive and M.2 SSD PCIe 3 or 4 drive formats.

The best boot drive in my opinion for your excellent Acer high end gaming laptop the PHN16-72 14th Gen cpu that you have, is the Gen 4 x4 lane Samsung 990 Pro NVMe with Heatsink, which will fit inside your laptop and you will be able to close the back lid also, this Gen 4 M.2 is the quickest and most reliable and has the best software on the market with the Samsung Magician software that has M.2 firmware update, performance benchmarking and temp monitoring and an internal and another software for drive cloning called Data Migration, so you can do an M.2 clone also, so the Samsung M.2 and 2.5” SSD drives come with a complete package.

I’m using this drive in my PHN16-71 so that is why I can tell you all this from personal experience, as its very speedy and excellent for gaming with performance benchmarking like below. But if you want to see other drives and how they perform, have a look at the Tom’s Hardware SSD Benchmarks Hierarchy 2025 and chose your own preferred M.2 SSD drive. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Is Heatsink variant of Samsung 990 Pro Fits for second NVMe, i see that Predator Helios Neo PHN16-72 has heatsink on case. Is it possible to have 2 heatsinked NVMe on Predator Helios Neo PHN16-72?

    Predator PNH16-72-97V7 Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-14900HX 2.20 GHz

I have the same machine and was about to ask the same question - a heatsink with built-in heatsink pads. Additionally the Samsung 990 has a cache performance falloff in excess of 80% will the WD SN850 is around 7% wouldn't it be a better recommendation.

My specs is I7-14700HX with 4060

Most people recommended 990 Pro and before i used Acer Predator Helios, i used SATA M.2 Samsung maybe 870 on my previous non-Acer gaming laptop (Skylake laptops) which long lasting for 8 years.

I don't know if there's other options and other better NVMe beside Samsung 990 Pro because most people preferred and used Samsung 990 Pro when i asked other forums in other social media.

The Samsung 990 Pro NVMe with Heatsink drive fits in both SSD1 and SSD 2 slots 100%, well it fits in my PHN16-71 laptop which is exactly the same, as I put this drive into SSD2 and closed the lid just to see if its fits and it did 100%. If the PHN16-72s oem heatsink that is attached to the back case is in the way take that heatsink out as it will fit then, but I don't think that there should be any problems fitting this M.2 drive and its heatsink. Good luck.
