Since external monitor uses dGPU directly on this model, does it mean the fans will never be idle even when you browse/watch videos?

Hi @user1197555894 I don't quite understand what you're saying. You say that you use an external monitor with its own graphics card, I imagine a data monitor.
If that monitor has its own ventilation system, it must be independent of the system.
    What monitor exactly is that?

What?? I'm saying that if I connect external monitor then it will use my dGPU instead of iGPU for everything including browsing, is it wrong or not??

I want to buy external monitor but I'm scared my AN515-54 (2019 model) will be hot and I'll have to choose between wearing my laptop out or not using the new monitor!

The HDMI port (USB-C does not support video output) on your laptop is always connected to the iGPU (not the dGPU) and can't change this setting.

This is the first time in my hours of research about this stuff since yesterday that I've heard the HDMI connects to iGPU instead of dGPU 😵

That's what I understand for your laptop, but I could be wrong.

In any case, there would be no problem if you used the dedicated one, the computer is prepared to cool it, just like when you run a game from the internal screen.
