Acer Aspire 7 does not switch on unless it is plugged into a charger

I own an Acer Aspire 7 laptop, and I am facing a recurring issue. The laptop does not switch on unless it is plugged into a charger, even though the battery and power switch seem to be functioning properly. Initially, I updated the BIOS, which resolved the issue temporarily for about 1-2 months. However, the problem keeps recurring, and I need to update the BIOS each time, which is quite frustrating. Now, I am unable to update the BIOS as it shows an error during the update process

Hi, what is the full model of your Aspire 7, like A715-76G-5188 or something like that, are you sure you are downloading the correct BIOS version for your laptop model and only from the Acer Support site not from other sites? Run a battery report: Paste this in the command prompt: powercfg /batteryreport and open the report with your Edge browser, right click and select "Print to Microsoft PDF", attach the report to your reply, type @Puraw or use "Quote" when you reply so I will get an alert.

You can’t keep flashing the same bios version v1.55 over and over again, the bios Insyde flash software will not allow it. The reason why your laptop only works on the adapter/charger is because either your battery needs replacing as its too old or locked or the laptops EC chip program is corrupted or the EC chip needs replacing.

I suggest that you do a Hard Reset first, by taking the back cover off , take the main battery out, disconnect the bios battery and short its +&- pins at the mainboard plug with a metal screwdriver to reset CMOS, then take the ram out and leave the laptop like that for at least 15min so that the laptop resets, then reconnect everything.

If the above hard reset doesn’t work I suggest that you take your laptop to a technician so that they can analyze your laptop and pinpoint the exact fault, do not keep flashing the bios as you will brick your laptop. Good luck and its program.
