Put pc to sleep the other day, it went to sleep and then turned itself back on. I left it for about 20 minutes and when i came back nothing would work. It powers on but only the front blue light turns on, fans don’t start, it doesn’t boot. it seems like it’s stuck. Tried to short cmos, still nothing. I don’t know what else to do.

    Hi @ashleighdx

    Please try these steps given below and let us know the status.

    • Reset the RTC/bios battery: Remove the battery and short the + and - pins to reset the super IO and bios chips.
    • Clear CMOS: You can try clearing the CMOS from the Predator Orion PO3-650's SG.
    • Check the power source: Make sure the computer is connected to a power source and the power light is on.  it
    • Restart the computer: Restarting the computer might resolve the issue.
    • Update software and drivers: Changing settings or updating the software and drivers might resolve the issue.

    If these steps don't work, you can take your desktop to an Acer support center or an experienced technician. You can also try these general methods to wake a computer from sleep mode: Press the SLEEP keyboard shortcut, Press any key on the keyboard, Move the mouse, and Press the power button.

    Hi @Joe_Kingsley i have tried all of those expect for updating software & drivers as i can’t get the pc to boot. But I do keep my pc up to date so i doubt that is the issue.

    @ashleighdx

    After powering on, does the PC show anything on the screen?

    Try to swap the RAM sticks.

    It sounds like maybe it was trying to do a BIOS update when it restarted on you. That is likely corrupted and will need to be reflashed, since a CMOS reset didn't make any difference. :(

    Hi thanks for replying but the problem is the pc literally won’t do anything, it’s like it is completely turned off. We have tried everything we can think of. Everything removed apart from fans. Ram reseated. cmos battery removed cmos shorted. So what happens is when we plug it into the wall socket, the power button lights up as if pressed to turn it on which it shouldn’t and you can hear the electrical components what to start but nothing powers up. Even when nothing but the fans were in the case, nothing. So i’m at the point of removing the hard drive putting in a different pc and wiping it and reinstalling windows . Do we think this will work?

    When you press the power button, it energizes a circuit on the motherboard that send a signal to the power supply to turn the power on. That's what is lighting the status LED. With power turned on the system starts trying to execute the code in the CMOS, which does a beginning initialization then starts running the power on self tests (POST). If the code in the CMOS is corrupted, it won't run, so it just turns things back off. That seems to be what is happening with yours.
