I just received a supposedly refurbish nitro 17 laptop but it seems to be defective

The keyboard backlights to not work and once more the nitroSense doesn't have any controls for the keyboard lighting, other than to turn off the disable after 30 seconds option. I was expecting to be able to fully configure the lights complete with setting different areas of the keyboard to different colors, but there is not indication of how to do that. Do I have the wrong Nitor Sense software or is my unit just defective.

What is the exact Nitro laptop model as just saying Nitro V17 means nothing, have a look at the sticker on the back of the laptop and give us a model like is it a Nitro AN17-72/AN17-51 etc as we can’t advise you on which exact Nitro Sense your laptop needs, as this Acer Nitro specific software should work 100%. I’ve got a 3 years old Nitro 5 and the Nitro Sense has always worked and installed properly except at the beginning of the new 23H2 Win-11 version.

Before you install the appropriate Nitro Sense for your laptop from the Acer support, make sure that you update the bios version and all Win-11 updates like the new version 24H2 and all its updates so that your laptop is at OS build 26100.2605 and also make sure that the windows update > Advanced options > Optional updates for your Nitro laptop are installed as there could be firmware that your laptop needs to operate and install software properly. Do all the above and let us know if the NS Acer software installs. Good luck.
