First, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Adaptive Connectivity on your Pixel and turn off Adaptive Connectivity. Restart both your Pixel and Chromebook to see if the connection stabilizes. Ensure that Bluetooth is enabled on both devices and that they are paired correctly. Make sure both devices are running the latest software updates, as this can resolve compatibility issues. If the problem persists, go to the Bluetooth settings on your Chromebook, forget the Pixel 6a, and then re-pair it. Additionally, check for any possible interference from other devices that might affect the Bluetooth connection.

Try connecting the Pixel 6a to another device and see if the issue persists.

First off, my Pixel connects fine with my car and my earbuds. I've never had a problem with them.

I turned off adaptive connectivity on the Pixel and it connected immediately to the Chromebook. What I don't quite understand is why I don't see it in Bluetooth connectivity on either device.

What actual model of Chromebook do you have? Chromebook Spin 917 doesn't seem to match any series I can find. Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like CPxxx-xxx-xxxx. What are the uses you are planning on with the Pixel connected to your Chromebook?
