Installing 3.5" SATA on Acer Aspire TC-1780, missing SATA power cables. Need help

Hello,

I'm trying to install a 3.5" sata on my Acer TC-1780 but the computer's PS does not have any extra sata power cables with the power supply. It does include two ports on the motherboard (#5 and #6)

but I have no idea what kind of cables they are. It has six pins but has a slim connector.

I have seen this topic in here before but it wasn't clearly answered.

Anyone know?

Thanks,

Josh

I suppose that you can use the

    50.VGND3.001

if you don't find the individual cables in the bag in the box with 2 cables.

Larry, that is the SATA data cable, not the power cable the post is asking about. The 50.VGND3.001 part number is correct for many models, Acer has different part numbers for other cables with different lengths, but they all should be interchangeable as long as they are long enough.

Yes, That was the data cable that came with my TC-895 in a bag,

I don't have a picture of the power lead, however it may've been jumped off of the installed DVD unit ?

I did not have to buy any cables for my sata HD installation .

the Serial ATA power connector on the motherboard (MB) is not special/ unique to Acer, it is very common.

The MB end is a JST (Japanese Solderless Terminals) Type XHP-6 , use crimps BXH-0BXH-001T-BXH-0BXH-001T-P0.6 (28 - 22 AWG).

The HDD end is a Molex 15 way (1.27mm pitch) Part Number 67582-0000 , use crimps 67581-0000.

for an Optical Drive, the 'smaller' power connector I have not found, so instead I bought a Akasa (AK-AK-CB050) cut off the LP4 connector and replaced it with the JST.

standard Serial ATA data cables in both cases.

all are readily available from Newark, RS components etc.
