ViewSonic VGA display not working with Acer Aspire TC-1780-UA92 Desktop,USB-C and HDMI adapter fails

I have a ViewSonic VGA display. I have an adapter to USB-C and this works with my Chromebook. I doesn't work with my Aspire. So I got a Hdmi adapter and that doesn't work either.

Everything else is set up but no display…any ideas?

Does your computer have a VGA output socket, if not then you'll most likely need to buy a new monitor with HDMI. Very cheap and worth every penny to have the latest display.

The TC-1780 models do not support DP Alt Mode on the USB-C port, that's something more likely found on a laptop. The HDMI port on the TC-1780 should work though, unless you have a GPU card installed. If you have a card in that GPU slot then the onboard HDMI is disabled and you have to use a port on the card instead. Are you sure the HDMI to VGA adapter works?

The Aspire TC-1780 desktop has a HDM1 @ version 2.0b and HDMI 2 @ v1.4b both ports Resolution (Monitor QVL) is at max 3840x2160@60Hz. The front panel USB-C is noy=t a display out type port like Thunderbolt port so a USB-C hub plugged into that front USB-C port will not extract an image to your ViewSonic VGA display, the only ports that will extract a display is the HDMI ports. If you have the 500W PSU consider fitting the optional ARC A380.6GB GDDR6.96B.1750MHz gpu card - Acer part #: DA.2K611.001 that Acer fitted to the TC1780 desktop as that card has a DP port that you could get better resolution out of with higher refresher rates than the HDMI 60Hz port. Good luck and hope this helps you out some more.

Or use a gpu card like the ASRock Arc A380 Challenger ITX 6GB OC, as this works on a 500W PSU and this gpu has 1 x HDMI 2.0b port and 3 x DisplayPort™ 2.0 with DSC ports that could be more suitable for your external monitor.

The monitor also should have a menu setting to go to HDMI input.
