I have an Acer Nitro V, RTX 4050, and at random, the GPU will just shut off at no matter the temperature. I began having this issue THE VERY DAY the warranty expired. It’s been an ongoing issue for a few months, I’m only just know trying to solve it again as I just lost 4-5 hour's worth of 3d work because of it. It seemingly happens most frequently when there is high amounts of smoke in a 3d setting.

Like your CPU, your graphics processor generates a lot of heat. If the component gets too hot, it can cause a sudden drop in performance or even shut down. To monitor GPU temperature, you can again use Hwinfo's logging feature. Normal GPU operating temperatures are similar to what you would expect from a CPU.

If laptop heat is an item that could causing this from what you said, get a good laptop cooler to help alleviate the issue. A good cooling pad can effectively reduce the max temps by more than 10-15 degrees. Also change power plan from Performance to Balanced.
