Anyone know how to disable VMD on Helios PH18-72?

Can't find any option in the BIOS (running latest v1.10), to enable/disable VMD.

Am having trouble installing the Windows 11, 24H2 update (fails right away with a blue screen, like it maybe can't find an install volume…) and would like to try with VMD disabled.

Have a look in your Predator PH18-72 bios for the VMD or get someone that has this model to instruct you how to bring the VMD setting out. Good luck.

On my similar PHN18-71 the following exposed it in BIOS as it was hidden by default

    1. Press F2 while booting to enter BIOS
    2. Press F1 to enter advanced options
    3. Go to the main options menu (where System Time, System Date, Network Boot, etc… are listed)
    4. Press CTRL + S to reveal several hidden options including VMD Controller and Re-Size BAR Support

Go to BIOS > Select Advanced > PCI Configuration > Volume Management Device
Step on each VMD that needs to be enabled or disabled (VMD Port 1x, VMD Port 2x and VMD Port 3x of each system Slot and PCIe SSDx can be enabled/disabled independently) press Enter key and select Enable or Disable
Press F10 to exit saving the changes

Hi Steven. Yes, luckily skillissues8327 was able to share the procedure that worked on his PH18-71. It worked on my PH18-72 as well.

VMD is clearly enabled in the boot chain given that my two SSDs are present in BIOS but no usable partitions were visible to Windows without the IRST driver loaded. ;)

Thank you! Control-S exposed 2 additional menu options on the main options screen under the Network Boot toggle.

A bit frustrating with that hidden VMD flag - I felt like I had to hold off on any further attempts to fix my OS issues until I could figure out why Windows couldn't see any partitions! :D

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately, these steps didn't work with my PH18-72!

Some additional information, there was an issue recently where a BIOS update on certain models was causing a bluescreen similar to what you described. In that particular case users who already had VMD disabled needed to go into BIOS, enable VMD then disable VMD again to correct the issue.
