Hi guys i just bought an aspire v3-772g. I installed windows 7 ultimate x64 and i used the drivers that acer gives for windows 8. everything seemed to be fine until i tried to play a game( league of legends). Every time the game starts the notebook shuts down on its own. I reinstalled the game, i formatted the hdd and reinstalled os and drivers but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

Welcome aboard, Mike. My first recommendation is that you try to re-install your original operating system. Your machine is designed for Windows 8, and running Windows 7 with Windows 8 drivers will lower your performance.

If you do re-install 8, go to the Start page and drag the Desktop tile to the top left corner. Now you only have to press Enter to go to the desktop. From the desktop, download the free Classic Shell, which will give you a Start Button. Your machine will now run like Windows 7, only better (because it is designed for Windows 8).

My machine came with Linux that did not had drivers for the track pad so, since i dont own a copy of Win8 it's gonna be difficult...any other suggestions?

Now i got a copy of Win8 and installed them. Then i installed all of Acer's drivers but as soon as i try to instal the Nvidia driver ( after the intel graphics driver offcourse )the machine shuts down by it self. Then i downloaded the latest driver from the Nvidia site, tried to instal and the same thing happened again. the machine shuts down.

By now i have tried all drivers available in Nvidia site both beta and stable, custom install (only driver option and clean install) and express install...nothing seems to do the trick. Is it a hardware issue? Should i just return it and buy another notebook?

What do you mean by shuts down? Blue screen? Or just random restarting? Or? You can check the windows even logs. Have you looked at the cpu/gpu temperatures? Smiley Happy

By shuts down i mean complete shut down, black screen, no power, no nothing and i have to push the power button to start again and log on to windows. I haven't checked the temp yet but it seems a bit off to me that the gpu overheats just by installing the driver, or trying to play a low-requirements game like LoL.

Mike, I advise you to return the machine, but they might not accept it since you changed the original operating system. For what it's worth, I consider it unethical for a store to sell a Windows 8 machine with Linux installed, because you lose too many drivers. When you installed Windows 8, the you had to find your drivers on the internet, and you might have gotten the wrong ones, installed them in the wrong order, etc.

I got all drivers from acer site, using the model's S/N... The installation order seems a good idea though... i installed

    1)chipset

    2)AHCI driver

    3)AMT

    4)Audio

    5)Bluetooth

    6)Cardreader

    7)TouchPad

    8)WLAN

    9)VGA Intel

    10)VGA Nvidia

    Anything wrong with the order?

    Hi

I bought the same model (didn't arrived yet though), so before I made a purchase I went trough this forum to see if there are any problems with it, I discovered that a lot of people had isues with bios v 1.11, so if you have that version maybe you should downgrade to v 1.08 (you can find it on official acer website). Hope it helps

    Have a nice one...

Thanks for the help but i saw the posts and checked about the BIOS already... mine came with BIOS 1.06 and i didn't do any changes cause of the problems that other users reported.

Mike, you still have a chance. Can you put a DVD with a legal copy of your operating system into the optical drive? It doesn't have to be your DVD. Before it asks for your number key, it will ask you if you want to repair your computer. Yes, this is legal, because you are only entering your own operating system, not installing a pirated OS.

Another option is to try to get in through Safe Mode and restore the original BIOS.

It doesn't recognise the otical drive or the usb in order to do a repair with windows and when i press F2 to enter the BIOS it asks for a password

Well, Mike I have good news and bad. The good news is that a computer shop probably won't charge you too much. They have legal programs that can force their way into your system and repair the damage.

OK guys i got it!the bios was locked after the flash i did but i found a key generator on google and it totaly worked!!! Then i changed the boot type from UEFI to LEGACY and i was able to reinstall windows!!!!Now i just have to identify if the cause of all the shutdowns was a hardware issue.

P.S. Acer service in my country charges 40 euros just to unlock the bios password....and another 50 to install windows using my own copy of windows...
