I have an Acer Swift Go 14(SFG14-41), after the 24H2 update my laptop has a fan problem.

While on battery the fans work fine but after I plug in the laptop and do some heavy task(like gaming, watching a 4K video on youtube), the fans ramp-up but have the speed cap of battery mode which is causing heating issues.

This problem resolves after a quick shutdown and power on (manually) and the fans work fine while the laptop is plugged in(This doesn't resolve by restarting).

This is annoying and I hope to see this being resolved in future updates!

Hi, you should leave the USB-C charger plugged in 24/7 and keep the battery fully charged to 100%, Make sure your BIOS version is 1.18 dated 2024/10/08 and that your battery supports "Connected Standby", run a battery report (paste this in the Command Prompt: powercfg /batteryreport). If it shows like the picture below the battery won't work properly with Modern Standby in W11 24H2.

Was the update done automatically by WU or did you manually install 24H2 with an ISO file? What does the Update history looks like, same as the picture below?

Thanks for the quick response. Here's what the battery report says:

Also, the update to 24H2 was done by windows automatically.

I am not sure what you mean when you say "have the speed cap of battery mode". The fan profiles are the same whether you are on the charger or on the battery. Typically you do have more heat being generated when charging, so the fans tend to run more and faster than when only on battery. Acer doesn't publish the fan tables for your AMD based system. Do you have different fan modes available in Acer Care Center or AcerSense?

Before the 24H2 update, The fans used to work at their max speeds as laptop got hotter. But after the update the fans idle at a lower speed(I could tells from the low noise and the air coming out from the vent) and the laptop gets very hot(above 75C). This stops happening after a quick shutdown and startup.

Well the problems seems to be fixed !
