My Acer Nitro 5 laptop won't turn on unless it is connected to its charger. Does this mean my battery is dead? Should I get a replacement battery or is there some sort of reset I can try beforehand?

Thanks.

What is your Nitro 5 laptop model number e.g. AN51x-xx, this is written on a sticker on the back of your laptop. A no charge and a laptop only powering on with its adapter could be from numerous things, old battery (as a battery should be replace at max 4 years old intervals) do a cmd line battery report and type in at C:\ Windows\System32> type in: powercfg /batteryreport /output "C:\battery_report.html" and then look for the battery report in “C:/ battery_report.html”. See the charging phase of the battery and its cycles for the condition of the battery

Also a faulty EC chip and its program a faulty Chipset chip or issues within the main power rail of the laptop could also be issue that cause this fault. Your laptop needs to be analyzed and the exact fault pinpointed by an experienced technician that has all the proper tools, as you can't do this on your own. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

My model is AN515-57, and it is approaching the 4 year mark. Thanks for the tip that it should be replaced every 4ish years—I wasn't aware of that. I will also do the lookup you mentioned. Thanks!
