I woke up this morning to my camera having disappeared

It does not appear in the Device Manager

I cannot add legacy hardware because it is inbuilt and the option to select manufacturer is greyed out.

I've tried 'repair' and 'reset' under camera settings, but nothing!

Purchase date: 30 MAY 2023, so it's not that old

The AcerUK 'help' livechat doesn't work as it is stuck on the 'verifying' page when I put in my S/N, SNID. And the telephone chat keeps ending abruptly. So no 'help' from Acer.

I am an online teacher and need my camera for Zoom or I will get fired!

Help!

Ok - I've found it in the device manager, but when I go to update it, it says it's not connected! It's an all-in-one computer that hasn't been touched on my desk from last night to this morning FFS!

The camera sits on an internal USB port. There was a bad update from Microsoft a couple of months ago that broke the serial ports on some Acer models. That might be what you are seeing. Verify that all your updates are current in Windows update and retest. If it's still not working try removing the host controllers and root hubs in Device Manager for USB devices, then reboot to force a reinstall.
