Hi everyone!

I’m new here and have an older Acer Aspire (about 5 years old) that still works great but feels a bit slow with newer apps. What would you recommend as the best upgrades to give it a little more life—RAM, SSD, or something else?

Looking forward to your suggestions!

Cheers!

That is a great description and question to ask about an upgrade for your laptop BUT you forgot the most important aspect of your question and that is "WHAT TYPE AND MODEL NUMBER IS YOUR LAPTOP" like and if its a 5-year-old Aspire 3 its either one of these laptops models the Aspire A314-31 / A114-31 / A314-32 / A114-32😁 so unless you tell us the model type and number, we can't help you, sorry.

Thanks for the reply, StevenGen! My bad for missing the model info. it's an Acer Aspire A314-31. Let me know what upgrades you'd recommend for this one. Thanks again!

Unfortunately your A314-31 has only On-board DDR4 4GB SDRAM and only has a 2.5" SATA III drive that can be upgraded to a 2.5" SATA III SSD (best drive is the Samsung 870 EVO SATA III) which will improve the speed of this laptop considerably and is the only upgrade to do. Good luck.
