Model: PH315-51 72X9 Laptop (2018 Model)

CPU: Intel i7 8750H

GPU: NVidia GTX 1060 (6 GB)

RAM: 32 GB DDR4

SSD: SK Hynix HFS128G39TND-N210A : 128.0 GB M.2 SATA (Where OS is installed)

Hello. Suddenly, my laptop screen is glitching with weird mesh triangles and flickering white pixels when using any 3D apps like Blender, Unreal Engine or video games.

Infact, any modern video games like Halo Infnite, Unreal Engine 5 using DirectX 12 are immediately crashing now.

Please see a screenshot (zoom in) and short gif.

Possible solutions I tried: Using DDU, did clean install of latest graphics driver but the issue still persists.

Have you got the last bios version 1.26 installed, have you installed all the optional windows firmware updates that might be available for this laptop if you are running Win-11 which you should, also I would run the latest Win-11 24H2 version and all its updates to OS build 26100.2454, as this software has all the latest drivers for your PH315-51 and will make your laptop run at its best.

Try to also run the games through the NVidia GeForce Experience software settings for these games as that also helps with settings for the GTX1060 gpu.

Also, only use the Intel oem Acer VGA graphics driver version 23.20.16.5018 and then let windows update to the last and compatible graphics driver for Win-11, as screen flickering is a cause of the Intel graphics also that has a none compatible Intel graphics driver, try all the above and see if it fixes the issue, if it doesn't then its either the eDP cable or the screen that b=needs replacing. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

    Hello.

Thank you for replying. Right now I am on Windows 10. I tried running Witcher 3 or any game via GeForce Experience, but getting same issues like in the gif image in first post.

Most modern games like Silent Hill 2 that is running on DX11/12 are still immediately crashing which was never the case before.

I will try sending my laptop for cable or screen replacement. Thanks.

Also I have few questions before trying out anything from my side.

    • Does upgrading the BIOS really helps?
    • Will upgrading the OS from Windows 10 to 11 fix it? Can I roll it back if issue still persists or I don't like it?
    • For Screen flickering I am not sure how exactly is it related to Intel drivers because I am using my NVidia GPU to run all the games. But I will try that approach as well.
    • About white/black pixels on screen. Is that indication that my GPU is slowing dying?

    Thank you.
