My laptop does not start anymore! Not even the green Acer logo on boot!

The battery does hold charge anymore, so I use it always with the PD connected.

I opened it and removed the battery, then recapped it and try to run without battery just with the original Power device connected but nothing happens.

Is it completely fried? is it the motherboard which crashed all of a sudden?

Please help me guys.

Many thanks in advance.

Hello, this is a 2017 laptop and if you never replaced the battery in 7 years it will be dead, average battery lifespan is 4 maximum 5 years or 1,000 full charge cycles for a high-grade Li-Ion battery. removing the battery and using the power adapter only won't work if the battery is wired serial; like the old Christmas tree bulbs, you unscrew one all lights go off. Here you can get a good battery for your laptop: Acer Aspire 5 A517-51G-54CX Replacement Laptop Battery | BatteryBuy.ph or Australia battery vendor

    Hello, thanks for reply.

I have to admit that in this Xmas season, the example of the dead bulb on the christmas tree is funny.

Is there a way to verify that it is serial or not connected ? I have removed the battery and connected the PD and nothing happen. I just want to verify that the motherboard is not dead. Let me tell you why:

Right before it when dead, I had an USB light connected in one of the USB port because this laptop does not have retro-lighting keyboard and i uses it to be more confortable typing in the dark. I went to the loo, and I think the Power Device was exceptionnaly not connected at the time when I came back, the screen was black. I pushed the power button and it went dead.

Is there a way to verify the motherboard without power at all ?

    Thank in advance.

Hi, I used a flexible USB LED to light my keyboard Aspire5 A515-54 for many years, it consumes a lot of power but never caused issues, there is no telling, even from the block diagram, if a battery is wired parallel or serial, some mobile devices work without a battery some won't.
