Hello kind folks,

Newbie question here - probably answered elsewhere but who knows...?

My son has this - Acer Nitro N50-620 Gaming PC - (Intel Core i5-11400F, 8GB, 1TB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, Windows 10)

We want to upgrade the GPU but have no idea where to start.

This card was recommended by a store, but they also recommend checking if it will fit with the manufacturer.

https://www.awd-it.co.uk/components/graphics-cards/nvidia/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3060/palit-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3060-dual-12gb-gddr6-pci-express-graphics-card.html

I'd appreciate some simple, direct recommendations on how to find an upgrade.

Many thanks,

Kelsey

The Nitro N50-620 came oem with 3 different gpu's and the top of the range gpu was also an NVIDIA RTX 3060TI GDDRVI 8GB ATX PCI-EX16 Acer part#: DA.30T11.001 which is a better performer gpu, but these oem Acer parts are ridiculously expensive and the oem RTX3060Ti is like USD 1,327.12 which is obnoxiously expensive! So you will do very well to buy a Palit RTX3060 gpu for only USD $338.32 (£269.99) which is 25% of the oem gpu price.

With upgrading gpu's for these Acer prebuilt desktops, you have to realize that these desktops have an Acer proprietary mainboard with proprietary power plugs at ATX_1 of a 6-Pin ATX power connector at ATX_2 of a 4-Pin ATX power connector and at ATX_3 a 4-Pin ATX power connector also, and these desktops are also fitted with an Acer proprietary PSU of either the lower power 300W PSU or the max 500W PSU which limit the gpu that you can upgrade to.

The Palit Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 can operate on a 450W PSU so its compatible with the oem N50-620 500W PSU which basically needs the same power source as the oem Acer fitted RTX3060Ti gpu shown in the list below, so the Palit Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 will fit and work 100%. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Other upgrades that you should consider on top of the new gpu as it would make the N50-620 allot more compatible with a top of the range gpu, so consider these additional upgrades also:

    1. If you don't have an i7 cpu upgrade to this desktops top spec cpu the INTEL CORE I7 11700F types cpu
    2. Upgrade the cpu cooler to a Noctua NH-U9S chromax.black
    3. Upgrade the boot drive to a 1TB or 2TB PCIe3x4 type M.2 SSD which is the quickest Gen 3 x4 M.2 SSD drive which is the Samsung 970 Plus EVO that will give you superior performance also.
    4. Upgrade the ram to this desktops max total of 64GB (using 4x 16GB DDR4-3200MT/s modules), see below for the ram types suitable for this desktop, or look at the Crucial Ram range of ram upgrades for the N50-620 desktop.

OEM GPUs fitted by Acer to the N50-620 desktop

Compatible and Acer tested ram modules used for the N50-620 desktop
