Battery Draining Rapidly While Shut Down on Acer Nitro V16

Hi,

I recently purchased an Acer Nitro V16 (3 month old), and I've been facing an issue where the battery drains significantly even when the laptop is fully shut down. Previously, the battery would only lose about 1% overnight when shut down. However, now the drain is much more severe. I shut it down with 96%, and when I turned it on the next day, it was down to 4%. Similarly, I powered it off with 40%, and just a few hours later, it dropped to 20%.

I have confirmed that the laptop is properly shut down and not in Sleep or Hibernate mode. Could you please help me identify the cause of this issue and suggest potential solutions?

Thank you.

If you have not installed 24H2 and you are still on Windows11 23H2 check if you have the latest BIOS version from Acer Support for your model. Microsoft released a fix for battery drain by Modern Standby: Check Windows 11 23H2 for updates. Disable Acer Care Center in Services (accSvc), if you are using a USB-C charger stop that and use instead the barrel plug power adapter that came with the unit. Disable Fast Startup and Hibernate in "Change what closing the lid does" and "Change settings currently unavailable". Reset BIOS with F9 in BIOS and save changes F!!), exit BIOS and boot to Windows, reset Power Plan in "Edit Power Plan". Your battery may be bad, take the laptop and adapter to Acer Services in your country, there is 1 year warranty on the battery and power adapter.

And I've just noticed that there are no apps running after I shut down my laptop, but the battery still kept draining. I've done all steps except for the Windows update, as it shows no updates for my laptop. Is is the hardware problem? What should I do next
