It's frustrating...I work a lot on the train where I connect my chromebook to my mobile hotspot. Since approx. 2 months, the chromebook first connects to the hotspot and after 1-10 minutes the connection is lost and it fails to reconnect. Rebooting the Chromebook helps only until connection is lost again after a short moment.

I tried a powerwash and updating the chromebook.

Other laptops are able to keep connection to the mobile hotspot of my Pixel phone and my Chromebook is able to keep connection to the Wifi at home and in my office.

Do you have any ideas what else I could try?

I've just discovered something strange that I've noticed before.
I'm now sitting in my office, but have now reconnected the laptop to my mobile hotspot. And the connection is still working... for 30 minutes already (it never works that long on the train).
Could the connection problem have anything to do with being on the move?

Sorry for the several postings, but I just want to share with you all the information:

When the Wifi connection is lost (it just happened again while being on a train) and I removed the Wifi and added it again on my Chromebook, then it tries to connect and it fails with the message "unkown-failure" and then the Wifi cannot be found anymore on the Chromebook at all

Does anyone have any idea how to solve this issue?

Maybe the phone is dropping when it switches from one tower to another, and the Chromebook then decides the connection isn't to be trusted due to the change?

Yes, that may be, but do you have any idea if the settings of the Chromebook could be changed to solve this problem?

Not right off hand, but searching on that idea might come up with some ChromeOS-fu that allows deeper configuration of the WiFi parameters.
