So, um, I'm noticing that my laptop's fan is making a raspy sound whenever its temp is increasing, and the only way to temporarily get rid of it is to max its fan speed. I'm worried that this will damage the hardware in the long run.

How old is your Predator laptop? Have cleaned and inspected the fans recently, it may be just vibration. if the fan(s) bearing is busted you can easily replace one (10 minutes DIY job), post the full laptop model and we will advise where you can get new fans.

My Laptop is barely a year old. I have not cleaned nor inspected it yet because of the warranty. Is it urgent to get it checked?

Increasing fan speed will not damage the fans, if you have a raspy noise coming from the fan(s) its either that the fans are dirty and need cleaning or their bearings are faulty and will eventually fail and the fans(s) will not work and fail. Best is to first open the laptop and clean the fans with a fine brush and a pressurized air can, to get rid of all the dust and felt that builds up on the fan blades.

Do that first as I'm sure that the fans will perform allot better afterwards, if the fan(s) still have that raspy noise change the fan(s) with new ones. If you want the part numbers for the fans for your laptop give us the laptop model that you are using as then we can give you the exact Acer part numbers for these fans. good luck and hope this helps you out further.

I would open the laptop and first disconnect the battery and then clean the fans and inlets, I don't recommend using compressed air but just a PC rubber bladder for cleaning that you can get in any PC shop. Cleaning a laptop inside will not void the warranty if you touch nothing else and use a proper screw driver, don't strip screws and always disconnect the battery.
