I've have had this monitor for a year now (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C1T35BCF?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title) and it has worked fine until recently it has started to randomly turn off when I have a game open. It will work fine for a while then all of a sudden it goes black and switches everything over to my 2nd monitor and the monitor will not turn back on for 2-5 minutes. Then it comes back on and works normally again for maybe 45mins - 1hr then turns off again.

It has also started doing this without a game open now.

Is there any chance the power connection is a little loose?

To address your XV272U monitor turning off while playing games, start by ensuring all cable connections are secure. Update your graphics drivers to the latest version and check that your monitor is receiving a stable power supply. Adjust monitor settings such as refresh rate or FreeSync/G-Sync to see if that helps. Ensure proper ventilation for your monitor to prevent overheating and clean any dust from the vents. Lastly, reinstall your monitor drivers via Device Manager.

I don't think so. I have unplugged it and plugged it in many times now. It is plugged into a power splitter, but this has been working for over a year now. I also can't really plug it into a wall due to the cable not being long enough, although I have tried an old extension cable which did not work.

Check Your PSU: Make sure your power supply unit (PSU) is working properly. Check Your Graphics Card: If your graphics card is faulty, it could be causing the black screen. Change Your Monitor's Response Time Setting: If your monitor's response time is set too high, it could be causing the screen to go black & turn-off.
