Why is my CPU stuck at 0.2 GHz clock speed on Acer Aspire A514-54G?

I have an acer aspire 5 i7 11th gen, 20gb laptop. It's brand new and the laptop is lagging too much as it is stuck at 0.2 GHz even without any task. Takes a whole bunch of time while booting up and everything is very slow. I surfed through the internet and found that bd prochot feature is limiting the performance even without any heating issues. So, I installed Throttlestop software and uncheck the bd prochot box. It completely solves the issue but is temporary as I have to manually start the app to unfreeze the clockspeed. I even tried to launch throttlestop at startup but the booting time is huge. I also tried to change the settings in the UEFI settings but I couldnot find any options related to this. Can anyone please suggest me the permanent way to fix this issue?

    Welcome @sandzzzzz,

    Please tell us the model (full name) of your Aspire laptop.

    The BD PROCHOT signal can be triggered for a number of reasons:

    • Faulty battery;
    • Charger circuit;
    • EC controller;
    • Faulty DC-in Jack and/or Charger source;
    • USB / USB-C PD ports with excessive power consumption;
    • GPU and/or VRAM chips overheating;
    • Voltage regulator circuit (VRM) overheating;
    • RAM modules overheating;
    • PCH overheating;
    • Overclock (firmware UEFI or VBIOS mod)
    • Faulty read sensor(s) (e.g. temperature control, FAN rotation, lid opening and closing, G-SENSE).

    According to the creator of the ThrottleStop tool, this last item is one of the most difficult to diagnose! You'll need a schematic of the motherboard to identify and locate the exact location of these sensors.

    If your laptop is new and still under warranty, please contact Technical Support / Authorized Reseller to request a replacement / repair (RMA).

    @sandzzzzz

    Does the CPU frequency lock still occur when the charger is disconnected?

    Please remember to include @AnhEZ28 when you want to reply back to my comment so that I can check your response.
    Thank you and have a nice day!

    As a preliminary step, use the HWiNFO or HWMonitor tools to check your laptop's temperatures.

    Inspect the motherboard and internal FANS of the cooling system. Depending on how long it has been used and if it's dusty, clean it and replace the thermal paste.
