I have a 5 year old acer swift 3 sf314 41 athlon 300u laptop. Unlike my newer aspire 5 laptop that came with a HDD upgrade kit inside the box, the swift 3 didn't have a hdd upgrade kit in the box. I went to my local acer authorized service center and my experience was terrible. Very shabby and shaddy place . Had to wait almost an hour and when my turn came , I was turned down in the reception citing "it's not possible to order such parts for this laptop" , they didn't even open the laptop to confirm .

I tried looking up online and nothing . Not a single soul in India sells the kit for this laptop online and literally no local shops have the ribbon cable for this model in stock. They don't have the bracket as well but that can just be stuck with tape. Even talked with the customer care on phone , whatsapp and dropped a mail , but still no help.

What do I do now? I don't wanna swap the mvme ssd as it's more work and I already have a cheaper 512gb sata drive just lying around.

First, when searching on the Acer sites, make sure you use the exact model series. SF314-41 works and SF314 41 does not. The dash has to be there for their search engine to understand what you are looking for. The part number from Acer for your HDD cable is:

    The bracket is:

I believe there is no difference in the two listed cables, they have the same part number but were sourced from different manufacturers. You likely won't actually need the bracket, since things fit pretty tight in there. If you find yourself tossing the laptop around on occasion though, install it.

I have looked up the model name on the Acer India website and no parts come up for sale. Even after logging into my profile and clicking on my products, the only support is drivers and updates and links to the customer support that isn’t helpful since they contract support to a 3rd party company in India. I have dropped the following mail to Acersupport@in.aegisglobal.com:

    “Sub: Parts quote request

    Hello,

I have an Acer Swift 3 Athlon 300u 4GB RAM 256gb SSD . My laptop has a 2.5 inch SATA bay with the required connector in the motherboard. However upon visiting both the Acer exclusive store and the Acer authorised service centre in my city , I was unable to get the required parts anywhere. Both had refused to provide the necessary parts over the reception ,without even first opening and checking the laptop.

Kindly provide me with the necessary instructions to order required parts directly.

    Regards,”

and I replied to this with

    “I require the following parts:
    1. Hard Drive Cable (Part No. 50.GXKN1.005) 2. HDD Bracket Disassembly (M3 x L4 screws , Qty. = 4) 3. Hard Drive Bracket (Part No. 60.GXKN1.002)4. HDD Module DIsassembly (M2 x L3.5 screws, Qty. = 4)

The following parts were found after much research on Acer Community center post :- Acer Swift 3 SF314-41 need parts HDD cable and bracket — Acer Community .
Kindly provide me with the required parts so I can install a SATA drive in my Swift 3 SF314-41 (S/N: ). The laptop is way out of warranty and I want to do it myself as soon as possible as i had no luck with the acer exclusive mall, and the authorized service center in my city as well as the acer customer support number.

You don't have to purchase the parts directly from Acer, there should be plenty of suppliers in the secondary market.
