Can the expert enlighten me about the PCI-E speed for my Laptop Nitro ANV15? I noticed that the speed is fixed at x4@4.0.

As shown in GPUZ, the RTX4050 supposed to support PCIE x8@4.0, I even run the "Render Test" but it still stuck at x4@4.0.

All the power saving mode had been turn OFF, and even the power management for RTX4050 had been set to "Maximum Performance" in Nvidia Control Panel.

Appreciate any feedback as my curiosity is killing me. 😅

Edit:

  1. The processor is Intel i5-13420H, with 16GB 5200Mhz ram and 2 SSD.

yes, you are right RTX 4050 supports x8@4.0 but the processor (i5 13420h) has only 8 pcie gen4 lanes and they are shared between GPU(using 4 pcie gen4 lanes) and Gen4 SSD slot( using 4 pcie gen4 lanes). so total 8 pcie lanes at gen4 got used.

i hope you got this.. thanks.

Thanks for the info but based on Intel spec sheet, TechPowerUp and Notebookcheck.net it supposed to have enough PCIE lanes dedicated to the GPU.

    1. Notebookcheck.net (https://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Core-i5-13420H-Processor-Benchmarks-and-Specs.677510.0.html)

    2. TechPowerUp (https://www.techpowerup.com/cpu-specs/core-i5-13420h.c3058)

    3. Intel (https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/232173/intel-core-i5-13420h-processor-12m-cache-up-to-4-60-ghz.html)

Probably I need to find more info on the motherboard how it distributes the lanes amongst the internal components. Is there any website that I can cross check on the motherboard?

this info in techpowerup and notebookcheck is somewhat wrong becouse in nitro v gen5 pcie lanes are unused.. so all 8 lanes of gen5 are getting wasted . just gen4(for gpu and ssd) and gen3(ssd and few others) are in use.

so this line was wrong for nitro v.

I think I roughly get your idea. I assume the lanes distribution might follow such that x8@4.0 shared between the GPU (RTX4050) and the original SSD (each getting x4@4.0).
