Hi guys, I have Acer nitro v 16 ANV16-41 with specs as Ryzen 7 8845hs and RTX 4060. I am facing stutters while playing games. The average fps are perfect, but there are sudden drops that are really annoying. Earlier I thought my charger is underpowered, so a high-powered charger might help now I have 230w charger then I thought the issue might be the ram so I upgraded from 16gb to 40gb, but the issue is still there. I am using turbo mode for the games and NVIDIA GPU only mode and the issue is still there. I

have tried fortnite and r6s and the result for low

ultra settings from r6s are shown in the screenshot attached. as it is clearly visible that the 1% low fps are too low and way lower then the average fps which is resulting in stuter. can someone help me in sorting the issue. The gpu usage on ultra settings was average 70% and on low settings was 50% and cpu usage was also not that high.

You should not use different ram capacities in this laptops DIMM 1 & 2 ram slots, and work your laptop with a capacity of 40GB ram, as that is one of this laptops fps problems also, as the ram is not in dual channel /exact speed as the ram works in Flex mode which is allot slower. Acer recommends that this laptop performs at its best with equal ram capacities in each slot and in dual channel, with a max total ram capacity of 32GB (Crucial recons that this laptop works with 64GB total at 2x32GB DDR5-5600MT/s) as this is governed by this laptops AMD Ryzen 5 or 7 cpu memory limits.

Note: this laptop was supplied with the below adapters specifications which are a 19.5V / 135W at max input AC current of: 90Vac/47Hz, 2.1A (max.) from Acer, and increasing the adapter to 230W wattage and by 70% to what Acer recommends is dangerous and its a potential fire hazard, especially buying a none genuine Acer part adapter, so be very aware of what can happen as electrical fires are dangerous especially battery exploding and catching fire that can be lethal!

Try these Fixes: make sure that you have the latest bios version 1.10 installed, then look at whatever other firmware update widows update has as an optional update, also install the latest NVidia graphics drivers and play your games through the GeForce Experience software settings and make sure that you have the latest Win-11 24H2 version and all its updates done, as doing all this will make your laptop perform at its best. But of course you can also improve performance with a top end M.2 SSD gaming Gen 4 x4 lane drive like the Samsung 990 Pro NVMe. Also keep the laptop as cool as possible as that contributes to fps drops and stutters, so play your games under a good multi fan gaming cooler for extra cross flow ventilation from underneath the laptop.

Proper RAM upgrade: If you want appropriate ram kits look at Crucial as they have certain ram kits and even the highest Crucial 64GB Kit (32GBx2) DDR5-4800 SODIMM - DDR5-4800 • CL=40 • Non-ECC • SODIMM • 262-pins • 1.1V • 2Rx8 based • PC5-38400 that are the memory DDR5 spec for this laptop. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

ANV16-41 Acer service guide suggested memory specs,

Acer suggested and tested ram modules for this laptop that work 100% and they guarantee:

Mate first of all thanks for your answer.

As you mentioned the issue is with the ram then why was there fps stutter when I had the built in 16gb of ram with 8gb of each stick. I had 16 gigs of ram in my previous msi sword with rtx 3050ti and i7 11th gen and it was able to run r6s on low to medium settings with very stable fps and no stutters at all. And just to mention my ram stick is the same crucial one as you have mentioned above!

Secondly you mentioned about the latest windows bios and nividea software and they are completely upto date.

Third thing you mentioned about the adapter the adapter supports 180w and 235w both and that was recommended by a moderator over here and even before the adaptor the fps drop was there.

So none of the changes made any difference.

How are the temperatures (HWMonitor or HWiNFO) of your Nitro ANV16-41 while you playing your game?

Have you tried configuring Rainbow Six to run with DX11 and disabling fullscreen optimizations?

Your system's temps appear to be OK. Although the screenshot didn't capture the reading from all the sensors.

Considering that you have a generous amount of RAM, I recommend disabling the memory compression feature:

Enable or Disable Memory Compression in Windows 10 and Windows 11

Virtualization-based security (VBS) / HVCI are also "villains" who like to steal FPS:
