Why does Acer care center fail to retain Battery optimization settings after every restart

Hello, I downloaded the latest version (4.00.3042) of the 'Acer Care Center' program from the 'Drivers' section. I activate the battery optimization button in the Care Center to keep my charge level at 80%, and it works as expected, keeping my battery at 80%. However, there's an issue: I have to repeat this process every time I restart the computer. How can I resolve this problem? Could you please help me?

Hi, I posted that link about NiCad only to show you the source of the 80% charge limiting theory in Acer Care Center, modern batteries are all Li-Ion with a Smart chip and not related to this NiCad (debunked) memory effect, it is all a myth.

Hi, I recommend not using Acer Care Center as it hangs a lot and does not work well in Windows11 23H2, many of us have the bloatware disabled in Windows Services, stop the accSvc and AcerAgentSVC services and in Properties change the Startup type to Disabled and click on Apply. I have no issues with ACC on an y of my systems, running either W10 or W11. Acer has removed that 80% limit thing from all the current versions of ACC though, it turns out it causes more issues than it solves. Just leave charging at normal and keep it fully charged when not running on battery.

Thank you very much for your responses. Do you know what kind of issues the 80% limit in ACC might cause? Also, I should be using my laptop with the charger connected when the battery is at 100%, right? Thanks again!

Aren't the batteries used in laptops lithium batteries? The source you mentioned talks about NiCad (Cadmium) batteries, though. Or are the things said about both types of batteries just myths? Thanks.

Yes, as I mentioned, you should keep the charger plugged in and the battery charged to 100%, of course when moving around without access to power outlets you will run on battery only and if you don't use the laptop for longer periods unplug the charger from both the laptop and the electrical wall outlet, like you do with any electrical household appliance, for safety. You can browse this forum to find many issues with laptop power management/failures where I commented to disable the 80% battery charge limiting as it affects Modern Standby (suspend mode) in Windows. Acer Care Center also runs constantly at the background unnecessarily using your resources (memory and networking bandwidth), hangs in W11 (poorly written) and interferes with Widows WAU updater app.

The primary reason I disconnect mine most days for a couple of hours or longer is so I can run a battery report on occasion and have it accurately reflect the true battery status. The battery report only works when there has actually been time running on the battery… :)

I actually ran on battery for several hours last night because I was sitting out by the front door for Halloween guests.
