Travelmate SPIN B118 series (TMB118-G2-RN-C4NM) stuck at Acer logo, can't enter into BIOS

Hi,

my above laptop stops in the ACER LOGO and cannot enter the BIOS (no boot into win11).

The green light is always flashing until I press the on/off button for 10 seconds,after that it

turns off and computer also.

I tried also to disassembling and detach laptop battery ,and also BIOS battery for 10 sec.

Then I riassembled it ,but nothing changed (green light flashing ,also with power supply.

Is there anything to try ?

    You can attempt a battery reset if your battery is behaving abnormally, or your computer will not power on or off. This process will temporarily disconnect and then reconnect the internal battery. Use the instructions below to perform a battery reset.

    1. Unplug the AC power adapter.
    2. Press and hold the Power button down for 15 seconds. This will perform a software battery reset that may resolve the issue.
    3. If your system has a battery pinhole reset on the bottom, insert a small paperclip in the battery reset pinhole and hold the button down for 5 seconds.

    Note: Not all models have a battery pinhole reset. If the insrtuctions above did not resolve your issue, please contact Acer Support.

    Hi Joe,

    Unfortunately nothing changed after the suggested procedure, even following the pause between the 2 phases others say…..

    Try to disconnect the SSD/HDD and turn on the laptop.

    OK,but where is my 64 GB ssd ?

    I disassembled the battery and can see the mb ,touch pad…as you see.

    Maybe it is under keyboard ?(how to disasseblend ?)

    Your SSD is an eMMC drive, and soldered directly on the motherboard, so it can't be disconnected. Try disconnecting the battery, then connect the charger and see if it will turn on with just the AC power. Some designs allow that… There are two status LEDs on your SFG14-73T, which one is flashing?

    Thanks for the interest my problem.

    My model is not SFG14-73T ,but Travelmate SPIN B118 series: TMB118-G2-RN-C4NM, SNID:**********.

    It has only one status LED flashing.

    Anyway I disconnected the battery ,then connected the charger: the green light flashes…

    Also removed the battery's BIOS for minutes ,just for clearing CMOS.Nothing changed,led flashes continuisly.

    If the eMMC is soldered on the MB…..then I loose any hope…

    Hey giuseppe1956, the problem could be with the Win-11 startup boot files that could be corrupted, boot into the Win-11 installation USB and get to the Advanced > Startup Repair and repair the boot section first.

    Also and if you haven't changed your 2018 TravelMate Spin B118-G2-R laptops battery you should do that, as a depleted charge can cause all sorts of errors especially a boot error. As in some laptops, especially if you use the laptop in a mobile state, the battery needs to be replaced at max 4 years as after 6 years a battery is depleted and can be causing boot problems, try those two fixes first as there should be nothing wrong with your laptops eMMC drive if it only has this type of drive. Good luck and hope this helps you out some more. .

    Thanks for your interest.

    Fortunately there was no need to use Win11 startup boot files !!!

    I simply closed the chassis ,after reattaching battery ….and magically win11 appeared !!!!

    Really I don't know how it was possible…(miracle ?).

    Anyway thanks to you and other friends here for helping me .

    Sorry, that as an artifact of coy and paste putting the wrong model down. For your B118-G2-RN this is what they say for storage:

    So, if you have a 64GB drive, it is an eMMC. If the drive is larger it's either a SATA SSD or a HDD. You can tell easily by opening the drive bay on the bottom of the computer:

    That image shows the SATA SSD, if it were a HDD you would see it instead. If an eMMC then there would likely be nothing there. All is not lost if the issue is a failed eMMC drive though, since you can put a SATA SSD in that M.2 slot and use that for your system drive.

    All that assumes we can get the system to boot at least to the BIOS though. Currently you have the flashing battery status LED, which typically signifies the battery has gone bad. That's why I was hoping this design would allow you to come up with just AC, we could do a lot more diagnostics if we could get into the BIOS.

    Now, your laptop is around six years old and that's about the age where it's tough to find them used any longer. How much time, effort and cash are you willing to put into this before deciding instead to just get a new system? Our next step is likely to be to purchase a battery for it. That is likely to run around $35-40 at best. It's possible a new battery will get you going again without any other effort, but it's possible the battery is only one of several things that have gone wrong…
