Hello I am fairly new PC owner and I have concerns about the temperature with my CPU while gaming. I’ve read enough on these forums to know that the recommended cpu cooler upgrade Noctua NH-U12A chromax.black which I purchased and should come tomorrow. Aswell as two 120 fans for the top as an exhaust which come today. I’m nervous about installing these because I never done it before… more so with the noctua cooler. I’m not sure if I can just mount it to the bracket that was supplied and/or if I need to add the bracket supplied with the cooler? Do I have to take out the whole motherboard to screw it on? Do I need to add thermal paste and how to do it properly? If there is a step by step video or how to it would be greatly appreciated because I really don’t wanna mess up my PC. Thanks.

With the Noctua you don't need to take the mainboard out, just take the oem cpu cooler out from its mounts and use the Noctua LGA1700 cpu adapter mounts kit supplied and screw them into the existing cpu cooler screw positions of the mainboard and then and before you put the cpu cooler make sure that you use the Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal paste on top of the cpu before installing the Noctua NH-U12A chromax.black cooler onto its brackets. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

There is a concessive PDF doc guide (see below) on the Noctua site for the Noctua NH-U12A chromax.black cooler installation, so follow that. With the case fans its a very easy installations and use the appropriate mainboard fan Sys_fan or ARGB Header_fans.

    Here the PO5-640 mainboard information

If you searched the forum, you should already know that there's no need to remove the motherboard. Of course you can do it, but that's just more work. Anyway, you may need buy four tiny machine screws to attach your Noctua heatsink to the exsisting backplate, though.

Just take your time, check everyting twice, and I'm sure you'll do just fine.

    As mentioned above:

"[B]efore you put the cpu cooler make sure that you use the Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal paste on […]"

There's no reason to use liquid metal thermal paste if you are not an extreme overclocker. Just use the paste that comes with the cooler. It's good enough, and not electrically conductive like liquid metal pastes. The difference between most pastes, even liquid ones, is only few degrees. Totally not worth it for regular users. But if you had de-lidded your CPU, went for a direct die cooling, and wanted to squeeze all power from the CPU… LM is the way.

Good luck and keep us posted! People might want to see your before and after temps.

After hours of watching YouTube and wiring everything to my liking. I finally was able to install the CPU cooler and top fans and so far everything has been perfect. Also my temps playing Black ops 6/Warzone was up to the 90-100 Celsius but after 20 ish minutes of gameplay my temps consistently stayed in the 50 - 64 range. This is amazing achievement for my first PC ever upgrade and I am thankful for the people in the Acer community for the help.

After 20 minutes of playing black ops 6
