Acer Swift 314-56 - few keys on keyboard not working - which product can i replace it with?

Hello

since months my keyboard has a few keys that don't work (1, 3, q. t, u, j, left and right arrows, ß, volume keys)

I have tried - cleaning those keys, updating drivers, loading the operating system new (linux mint) and finally, taking it apart and taking apart the casing, disconnecting, cleaning and reconnecting the keyboard connector. Nothing makes them work. Nothing was spilt on the laptop, no damage that I am aware of. I just came back after a week away and some keys did not work anymore!

Now I am considering changing the keyboard and palmrest (becuase just replacing the keyboard seems complicated and messy)- but the parts are expensive (about 100euros!) But I keep finding other keyboards and palmrest parts online that look compatible - they are from other laptops in the swift series. I have searched online but I don't find the answer, if other parts are compatible. I can imagine, for example, some don't have the backlight, would be a downgrade but I would take it, because I find 100euros too much. I have a german keyboard (but I already considered getting another language keyboard if it has the same amount of keys, I can just swap keys over from the old one)

It seems from the ebay links that at least the keyboards/palmrests from SF314-41 SF314-54 SF314-56 SF314-58 models are maybe the same?

There is a lot of offers online for 314-52 - if that fits it would be very easy!

I would be really grateful if someone has some idea about compatibility, or can show me where online I can find this compatibility information, or has done something simular.

Thank you :)

Hi, the KB for Swift 314-54 and 314-56 appear the same, according to Zandparts (authority on Acer parts):
6B.GXJN1.009 Acer Keyboard (US-ENGLISH INTERNATIONAL) BL & Upper Cover (SILVER) you can send them an e-mail or chat and confirm that.

    Hello

Thank you for the answer. I did not know this company (Zandparts) so thats a good start - thank you! Unfortunately their parts are even more expensive than the one i found- maybe my question is badly worded, I am trying to find out if a cheaper part would fit also!

You also need to make sure you are getting the keyboard for the right language, and since the keyboard comes with the top case, with the correct case color. The keyboard is "plastic soldered" to the case, so not easily replaced without the case half. If you let us know which case color and language yours is for, we can get you the correct part number, which gives you something more concrete to search on.

    Hello

The case colour is silver (but it can be any colour - I don't really mind - maybe another colour looks interesting!) and language German. With swapping the keys - I meant that I need the 'ß' key - in a British keyboard I can just take the individual key from my broken German keyboard and swap it (just the top cap part!), and change the settings to German.

But if you know how to find the part number for the original, that would be a good starting place for me!

    Thank you

    OK, desrcition and part number:

    UCASE SILVER W/N-BL KB GERMAN

    6B.GXLN1.008

They don't do a version with backlight on this model, so you can ignore the W/N-BL part.
