Following a windows update, I now have no soundcard. It says 'No audio device is installed'. I have been into system settings, and the Realtec audio device is no longer listed. Can anyone tell me what USB or bluetooth speaker is compatible with Acer C24 - 1650.

Hi, you can do three things, restore the system to before the update, uninstall that update or reinstall your current version in System Recovery.

If you want to keep the Windows update and just reinstall the Realtek driver, download DDU from the Wagnardsoft site and boot to Safe Mode, uninstall all Realtek audio drivers with DDU and just reboot, Windows11 will install the proper driver and Codec. To get the Realtek Audio Console back install Realtek Audio Control from the Windows Store. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000091878/graphics.html

Stop giving these dangerous advice to people.

Intel's realtek audio driver is for Intel branded NUC computers only. These stupid advices got so bad that Intel has to write a FAQ just to tell people TO STOP installing these drivers on non-Intel branded computers.

Unable to Install Sound Driver Using Intel® Driver & Support...

Your advice is double deadly because you told the OP to nuke the computer with DDU, so there is nothing to revert to when he tries to install the incorrect Intel driver (and fails).

Installing the Realtek software from the Windows store doesn't do anything with an Intel NUC driver. Using DDU to remove the existing driver installation does work fine, when you reboot Windows installs the correct driver from Windows Update. I would start with uninstalling the September roll up preview that breaks Realtek if it's still installed, then reinstalling the Realtek driver and utility from Acer's support site if that doesn't fix it.

I'm thinking you just didn't actually read the reply that Puraw gave, and just assumed he was suggesting something about NUC drivers…
