HI, I am Adithya, I currently own a acer predator Helios 16 PH16-71-72YG,

Recently, my laptop doesn't get charged up, it stayed at 30%. The charging indicator light won't get lit up, both of them. I am worried and terrified right now, I checked up the charger and loose connection, it's not the issue, my instinct says that it has to be either battery problem or a software issue, I checked with acer care, it shows that my battery health is good.

My laptop was bought in Newegg, and I was received as a gift, and I am using currently in India.

Warranty is gone and my laptop runs when it is plugged in, when I plugged it out, it turns off.

I have gone to handful service centers in India, they turned me down, my last hope is you guys!

So, help me guys!

Thank You

If you have the Acer Care Center or Quick Access software's installed then uninstall both of these Acer applications first, then uninstall the Battery software in Device Manager and reboot the laptop and see if the charging charges past 30%

A new laptop like the PHN16-71 should not have any battery problems as its very unusual if it does, as a new battery very rarely goes faulty in these laptops and should last and work properly for at least 4 years, so it could be an internal power/charging circuitry rail issue that a technician needs to analyze and fix.

Send us a battery report if the battery software reset or hard reset doesn’t fix this issue, to do the battery report do this, go to cmd prompt > run as administrator and enter the following command fully:

    • powercfg /batteryreport /output "C:\battery_report.html"

Lastly, do a hard reset that will reset the battery and the EC chip that controls the charging function and a reset could fix your laptop, here is how :

Hard Reset: first remove the eleven (11) screws from the base cover of your PHN16-71 laptop, then carefully pry up the base cover starting from the upper left and right sides to release the latches, after the base cover is removed, take the main battery out and disconnect the RTC/BIOS battery and then short the batteries + & - pins at the mainboard plug (this resets the CMOS) and then take the ram out, leave the laptop like that for at least 15 min and then reconnect everything and see if your laptop charges past 30%. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
