I have an Aspire X3470 Desktop and Acer H213H Monitor.  The monitor only came with the VGA cable. It is shown as a Generic Non-PnP Monitor on this PC. Are there any new drivers for this model?

Also as it seems to be showing no signal after about 15 minutes.2nd I have read all the manuals and support Do I need buy a different kind of cable.HDMI OR DVI-D?  Would different graphics driver help?

Thanks.Smiley Happy

    Hi.

I don't seem to see any replies here, are my setting correct?

I am still having monitor problems and it has been quite awhile now.  This is very inconvenient for me as the only solutions I know is either set the power options to turn off the display never or jump start the whole PC at the powerbar (which I think maybe unhealthy).

I am trying out an HP LCD 2011X  Monitor  and that is doing the same thing as the Acer Monitor.  I have still time to take the HP Monotor back if it is incompatible....please someone give me feedback.

Also both monitors work excellent on my Vista 32-bit but not on My Windows 7 64-bit.

    ......................................................................................................................

On another note, I just did another complete factory restore, because the drivers for multimedia were missing. I had tried reinstalling them through the AppDriv1 DVD, but the PC kept crashing.  I tried updating online but that made it worse. So  I restored. (The concerned drivers are the ATI ones)

Today in the Control Panel it says ATI Catalyst Install Manager 3.0.829.0 and in the start menu it has AMD Vision Engine Control Center.  Am I suppose to use Acer eRecovery Management again to reinstall the drivers?  The videos online are not clear on this. When I plugged in a flashdrive it said the driver did not install correctly...now I am getting concerned again.

    (Vista was so much easier)

    Thanks in Advance.

As you were able to test a different monitor, and you experienced the exact same problem, it's most likely not a problem with your monitor, and thus posting here likely won't be very helpful as it sounds like you're having trouble with the AMD hardware. As it's an Acer desktop, I'd direct you to the Desktop forums, or (honestly) I'd contact AMD directly, as it appears to most likely be their faulty hardware...but some pointers.

Can't find a picture of the back panel of the desktop (might be helpful if you can take a picture and post it here), but it seems that the graphics are integrated (part of your CPU - as in, you don't have a dedicated GPU). This could lead to some complications when it comes to available video outputs and driver updates (as you no doubt are experiencing) - the thing is, W7 should be the most stable user-friendly OS on the market (far more stable than Vista), so it's incredibly odd that this is happening.

Try using a different cord (either HDMI or DVI) on both monitors - or even the new VGA you presumably got with the new monitor on the old Acer - doubt it's the cord, but might as well rule that out while you have both. Then, assuming it's still possible to return the new monitor, go ahead and do so as it didn't help.

I personally own a H213H connected via DVI to an Intel system with a W7 64-bit OS, and it works flawlessly, but as far as I know it is in-fact recognized as a PnP monitor...so I'm surprised your system isn't recognizing it as such - again, most likely related to the AMD hardware/drivers.
