Hi,

What would be the best way to get multiple monitors connected to my Acer Nitro 5. There's 1 HDMI port taken already. To connect another monitor, I explored options such as using Type-C to HDMI adapter or Chaining USB 3.1 → Type-C → HDMI adapters. Both seem to not work. 'Display connection might be limited' it says.

Any thought.

I'm consider HDMI splitter right now, Type-C port of Nitro 5 does not support display from my research. And using USB ports for display purposes is not advised either(not to mention it didn't work already but maybe that was because I chained multiple adapters).

It depends on which Nitro 5 model you have. Some support DP Alt Mode on the USB-C or TBT port, some do not. Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like AN5xx-xxx-xxxx. An HDMI splitter will allow you to connect two monitors, but they will show the same image on both.

Hi, if your model does not have a hunderbolt USB-C port that supports Dispaly Poert Alt Mode consider getting an active USB3.0 graphaics adapter with 2 HDMI ports that support 4K monitors at 60Hz in extended mode like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-DisplayLink-Graphics-Outputs-Compatible/dp/B094G5JLNC?th=1 an HDMI splitter will just replicate displays, do not extend screens.

@Puraw Hi, thanks for the advice, I will look into the product you linked.

I tried USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter and it's possible to connect a screen with it. However, it's not possible to have 2 connected at the same time. I.e i can only connect USB when HDMI screen is unplugged and vice versa. Could there be anything inherent about my model not allowing triple display or potentially some clashing between these two ports?

    I looked up my model it's AN515-45-R52B

Hi, the Acer Nitro 5 AN515-45-R52B does not support Thunderbolt 4 (TBT4) or DisplayPort Alt Mode through its USB-C port. The USB-C port on this model is a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port, which does not include video output capabilities. The USB3.0 active graphics adapter with 2 HDMI ports that I recommend will work but you need to download the driver from the DisplayLink official website.
