I don't know what happened but for some reason by GTX 1650 graphics driver was grayed out in the hidden drivers so I uninstalled it so I can download it again both from the nvdia website and the acer website but for some reason when I tried to install either of them is says that the "Driver is not compatible with the current version of windows" or some form to that degree. How do I fix this? (Am new to laptop and pc)

If the GTX1650 or the related Basic display adapter does not appear in the device manager, there is something wrong with the dedicated GPU.
Try the power reset first by turning off the laptop, unplugging the charger, and holding the power button for 15 seconds.

You will need to bring the laptop to a technician for further diagnostics. The power supply to the Nvidia might be faulty, leading to an intermittent connection.

What is the model number of the laptop?
Also, did you try downloading the driver that corresponds to the Windows version?

@AnhEZ28 My laptop model is AN515-55, and I would like to retract my statement as I had 2 different nvdia downloaded and I thought one was from the official NVDIA website(which it was not). I downloaded from the actual website and it seems that it was compatible but the problem now is that it says that it detected no NVDIA GPU and that it could not find a compatible graphics hardware.

Be aware that the NVidia GTX1650 graphics for the Nitro 5 AN515-55 laptop should not be updated every time NVidia releases a new driver, allot of the older 16th Gen Nitro laptops get a blue screen BSODs when the new and latest NVidia drivers are installed it also happens on the Nitro 5 AN515-56 with the CTX1650 GPU that my friend has and we've been trying to work out why? Install the AN515-55 laptops Acer oen NVidia driver for the GTX1650 card from 2021/10/08 version 27.21.14.6262 and see if the GTX1650 GPU is detected as windows update will update this version to whatever is the most and latest compatible driver for your AN515-55 laptop.

Note: These issues stems from Nvidia’s decision to discontinue support for older CPUs like the GTX1650 chips that don’t meet their new GPU model requirements. While these CPUs were already unsupported by Windows 10/11 itself, the new Nvidia drivers have exacerbated this detection and installation problem(s).

The new NVidia drivers are specifically made for the newer RTX 30 and 40 series GPUs just like the Intel graphics drivers that cause screen flickering if installed in Acer laptops. These NVidia latest drivers do install but you geta BSOD just at the end instead of the driver software finishing and notifying you to reboot the laptop when its finished installing.

Below is the last Game Ready NVidia driver version 610.9 for the NVidia GTX1650 GPU Win-10/11, it installs and works 100% but this driver gives a BSODs at the end of the installation process. Good luck and hope this helps you out some more.

@AnhEZ28 Unfortunately it was a temporary fix, it got grayed out again in the 'hidden device' area.

    Edit: To add details.

The link is at NVidia Downloads as its the latest GTX1650 gaming driver for Win-11. Or the best is to download and install the NVidia GeForce Experience latest version: 3.28.0.417 as this is a specialty NVidia software that scans and downloads the latest drivers for NVidia graphics and also has ultimate settings for over 1500 of the major games on the market to work with your GTX1650 gpu and you should play your games through. The drive above version 610.9 is the latest GTX1650 Win-11 gaming driver, which installs but expect that just before the driver finishes its installation, expect your AN515-55 laptop to go into a BSOD Blue screen but the driver is listed in Device Manager and its installed? As that is what is happening with these older NVidia gpu’s and these new NVidia gaming graphics drivers. Good luck.

Try to check the temperature of the CPU to ensure that it is not overheating.

@StevenGen Sadly it doesn't work, it keeps saying NVDIA gpu not detected.

@AnhEZ28 It doesn't, I mostly use my gaming pc for just entertainment like youtube and also playing low straining game that uses more cpu than gpu.

Rod_Rami, if the laptop works with a faulty GTX1650 graphics and only on the Intel 10th Gen cpu Intel HD Graphics (as sometimes these laptops don’t and the dedicated gpu needs to be disabled) then leave the laptop like it is) as this cpu graphics has a base frequency of 350MHz to a dynamic frequency of 1.05GHz as this graphics is good enough for normal graphic tasks and what you are using the laptop for.

Be aware that your Nitro AN515-55 laptop uses the cpu graphics anyway for 90% of the time, and not the NVidia GTX1650 gpu, the dedicated GTX1650 gpu is very rarely used and only used in extreme graphics requirements in gaming, editing etc. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.

@StevenGen The only problem is that even tho it works the quality of gaming is reduced. I play games like they are billions and riftbreaker, mainly cpu usage but without the gpu sometimes it becomes a frame by frame gameplay. I don't really know when and why this happened but after doing a power reset the gpu does come back but just after a short time I get blue screened and the laptop fixes it by removing/disconnecting the gpu.

The gpu has not been updated in its normal state but even when I tried downloading to the latest version(I power reset and in the short time window that the gpu is connected I downloaded the latest GTX 1650 version) the blue screen occurred nonetheless and the gpu is back to being grayed out.

Edit: I appreciate the help nonetheless. Might have to bring this to a repair technician.

Unfortunately if you play mid to high end games and need a dedicated NVidia gpu then you either invest in an eGPU external enclosure setup that connects through the Wi-Fi card as the AN515-55 hasn’t got a Thunderbolt port which todays ready to use eGPU enclosures that are on the market connect with, so you will have to go the Wi-Fi card route, or change the mobo to a higher spec replacement Nitro AN515-55 board.

The AN515-55 laptop came with two different mobo board types and NVidia gpu’s series like these:

    System Board Major Chips (N18P-G61/GN20-P0/P1)

    • N18PG61A – GTX1650
    • GN20P0 – RTX3050
    • GN20P1 – RTX3050Ti

    System Board Major Chips (GN20-E3/E5/E7)

    • GN20-E3 – RTX3060
    • GN20-E5 - MaxQ RTX 3070 Max-Q
    • GN20 E7-MaxQ - MaxQ RTX 3080 Max-Q

Unfortunately Acer does not list a part number for the Nitro AN515-55 range of laptops so you will have to search the web for a new mobo of the above specs and whichever you can afford. Just to assit, here is one from Zandparts from Europe it’s an AN515-55 mobo with the RTX3050 gpu Acer Part #: NB.QB011.003 (so search this number on other sites) as this Acer part number if for the “Acer MAIN BD.W/CPU.I5-10300H.HM470.GN20-P0-4GBat €1,170.63 incl. VAT (USD $1,285.00) which aint cheap, but you could probably search the web for a cheaper mobo, so do that.

This is the way to replace the mobo here at iFxit: Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55-55M1 Motherboard Replacement - iFixit. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

@StevenGen Am way too much of a rookie to understand most of it but I'll save this in the future.

Edit: Wait, does mobo board mean mother board?. I think would actually be doable since one of the problems I also have is that one of the screws for the fan are super tight that we honestly can't remove the fan for a re-paste leading to over heating when playing high-end games.

Yes, "mobo" means motherboard and if you can't undo the the fan try and see if you can remove the thermal module without removing that fan, don't force the fan screw to be opened as you will damage the therad and you wont be able to secure the fan completely.
