considering my laptop is a gen 3 x4. which is gives me better performance?
gen3 WD Black SN750 that has almost speeds like +3000
or a bottlenecked gen4 WD Blue SN580 that has speeds like +4000

In a 3x4 PCIe slot the Gen4 will run at half the rated speed (for 4x4) thus there will be little difference between the 2 SSDs. I would go for the very reliable Gen3 Samsung 970 Evo Plus up to 2TB that has DRAM memory, Gen4 SSDs are DRAMless, you can read on the web about DRAM benefits, it is faster if you continuously read and write with an SSD that has DRAM.
