The "Cannot find script file" notification you are encountering when starting your laptop is likely related to a missing or misconfigured VBScript file, specifically run.vbs. This issue often arises when the Windows registry has been altered, possibly by malware or an incomplete software installation.

    Steps to Resolve the Issue

    1. Check Registry Entries:
      • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
      • Click on File > Run new task, type regedit, and press Enter.
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
      • C:\Windows\system32\userinit.exe,
      • If it includes any references to run.vbs, remove that part.
    2. Check for Malicious Software:
      • Run a full antivirus scan to ensure no malware is affecting your system. Use free software like malwarebyte

IF issue persists, follow these steps:

    Step-by-Step Instructions

    1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator:
      • Press Windows + X and select Command Prompt (Admin) or Windows Terminal (Admin).
    2. Run the DISM Command:
      • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
      • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:C:\RepairSource\Windows /LimitAccess
      • Replace C:\RepairSource\Windows with the path to your repair source if needed.
    3. Run the SFC Command:
      • sfc /scannow
      • This command scans for and repairs corrupted system files.
    4. Review Results:
      • Once the SFC scan is complete, review the results. If it finds issues that it cannot fix, consider running the SFC command again or checking for further issues.

This sequence ensures that your Windows system files are both checked and repaired effectively, utilizing both tools for comprehensive maintenance.

CAN YOU TELL HOW IT MAY HAPPENED

  • Bugs in the operating system can cause persistent notifications that do not correspond to actual security issues
