My brand new Acer Aspire 3 (A315-59-564A) lasted a whoppin 2 days!!! then the whole screen shattered!

It was never dropped, kept in a hardcase cover, never bumped nor mechanically damaged in any way, the screen is fully smooth to the touch and looks like it shattered from behind (inside)…. there are more than 950 reports on this forum for Acer Aspire 3 cracked screens…. go figure;

Temperature related stress fracture? manufacturing faults, defective design?

Its been at the Netherlands repair center for almost a week now… no word from anyone. Very disappoiting Acer, I am so sorry that I bought this laptop, huge regret :-(

    Hi, this can happen when the hinge is tightened too much or stuck and you quickly/force open (15" and larger) the lid only at one corner flexing the lid and exerting great force/stress on the small hinge assembly at the opposite side, this flexing can crack the screen, or the hinge breaks loose and pushes the screen bezel outwards. Whatever, don't worry Acer will replace the screen or replace the laptop, you can even claim a full refund, just make sure that you open the lid of any laptop in the middle or on the two corners using two hands. 😉

    That is very unusual and it must be a specific thing with probably a batch of the Aspire A315-59 screens that your laptop has, don’t stress and/or blame a company for a product that they should and is being fixed under warranty!

    You have to appreciate that anything that breaks on a laptop especially a screen “which is really unusual” Acer in the Netherlands has to analyse and inspect why this screen broke and make sure that you didn’t do this yourself (which I’m not blaming you that you did!) as I’ve owned over the last 15 years plus, and many Aspire laptops and used many of them, and my son and family uses an Aspire A515-57 and we have never had this sort of a problem with a screen. Be patient as Acer Netherlands will fix/replace your Aspire A315-59 LCD screen as you also have to appreciate that the parts could be hard to get and that their technical department are busy and your laptop is not the only product there. Good luck and hope this helps you out.👍

    Thank you for those replies Gents,

    @Puraw - That sounds like an incredibly flimsy design, such product should not be allowed on the market; If that was the cause of failure I will most certainly return it for a full refund.

    @StevenGen - Completely agree, this should not happen, we have also owned many Acer products over the past 20 to 30 years and none of the screens every cracked like this. PS the reseller has already charged me €60 to "investigate whats wrong with the laptop"… duh, the screen shattered… and told me the warranty will probably not cover it, but who knows, maybe Acer is honest/ fair and reasonable and could still suprise me over here?

    Did Acer ever get back with you about your screen? We had the same thing happen and they refused to repair it. They said it wasn’t under warranty.

    The below list of brands and their model numbers are the oem 15.6" LCD Acer screen that were fitted to the Aspire A315-59 laptops for your information, to see what screen you have oem in your laptop install HWiFO64 and see in this software's Monitor section as the model brand and number is listed there.
