Why's my battery draining out so fast?

Not even been half a month since I bought an aspire 5.

Hi, leave the adapter/charger plugged in 24/7 and the battery charged 100% at all times. The battery is new so there should not be any wear, probably you changed the default Power settings, and you may have too many background processes running, check your background processes in Task Manager that should not be more than 75 or so. Change Best Performance mode to Best Power Efficiency mode in Power & Battery settings and turn on the battery saver. 😉

Battery drain issues on your Aspire 5 could stem from a few common factors:

    1. Background Apps and Processes: Some apps or processes might be running in the background and consuming power. Check your Task Manager to see if there are any resource-heavy programs running.
    2. Battery Settings: Ensure that your power settings are optimized for battery life. Go to "Power & sleep settings" and check if you have a power plan that favors battery life, such as "Power saver."
    3. Screen Brightness: High screen brightness can significantly drain the battery. Lowering the brightness or enabling adaptive brightness might help.
    4. Battery Health: Over time, batteries lose their ability to hold a charge. Check the battery health using built-in diagnostics or third-party software. If the battery is degraded, you might need a replacement.
    5. Outdated Drivers: Ensure your system drivers, especially for the graphics card and chipset, are up to date. Manufacturers often release updates that can improve power management.
    6. Background Updates: Automatic updates for your operating system or applications can sometimes cause excessive battery drain. Check if updates are running in the background and manage them accordingly.
    7. Power-hungry Applications: Some applications or web pages (especially those with auto-play videos or ads) can use a lot of power. Monitor which applications are using the most battery.
    8. Hardware Issues: Occasionally, hardware issues or malfunctions can cause excessive battery drain. If you suspect this, contacting support or visiting a technician might be necessary.
