Prologue:
The gpu on my desktop computer died. An rx480 with 8gb. So, in order to keep earning money to pay the bills, I am forced to use my laptop 100% of the time while I despair on the insane gpu prices or save enough money and bite the bullet.

So in order to have my laptop vaguely resemble my desktop computer, I downloaded the crucial memory advisor thingy, and it stated that according to bios, my laptop could handle up to 16gb ram, but it recommended to use 16gb ddr4 2600mhz sticks. In the FAQ, in c-y-a legalese speech, it told that it might support more ram if firmware or bios was updated.

I bit the bullet, bought a 2x16gb kit from crucial, and lo and behold, it is recognized not only by the bios, but by windows! =)
I post this heads up as I could not find in the forum whether this laptop model could support 32gb. And I can happily affirm that it does.

Fact:
The specific kit I bought that is recognized and working with the laptop is the CT2K16G48FD8266 Notebook DDR4-2666 SODIMM 1.2V CL19

Not the fastest ram, not the fastest laptop either. But it is what I have, and it has just extended it's usability with the ram upgrade.

Thanks for confirming that the original specsheet for this model are correct even with an older 2018 BIOS

Hey JackE. I currently have the A315-41-R0GH and I'm looking to upgrade the Memory and SSD. Would you mind sharing the specsheet you posted?

That is the image copy of the RAM specs for this model. Right click on the image and copy it. Two standard 16GB DDR4 sodimm modules 2400MHz or faster are required. Go to crucial dot com. Run their scanner on your system to confirm.
