PH16-71 want to upgrade my Ram and Storage can I do that myself or do I need to bring it to acer ser

I Recently purchased a Helios 16 (PH16-71) from Japan. It has warranty seal on its back panel. I want to upgrade my Ram and Storage can I do that myself or do i need to bring it to acer service center (If so, then will they install the ram and storage provided my me).

    Hi, you can do the upgrade yourself but do it carefully without stripping the screws and completely shut down the laptop disconnect the battery from the motherboard and don't touch anything else. First disable fast Startup and Hibernate in Windows "Change what closing the lid does" and "Change settings currently unavailable" than shut down the proper way with Start-Power icon on the taskbar. Get a professional screwdriver set and remove/tighten the screws with minimal force as screws are locked with a compound and the small brass thread inserts at the bottom break loose very easily. If you do the upgrade professionally without damaging anything the warranty will not be voided.

    Acer Chat Support Japan has straightout refused to install the ssd at service center. and if i do that by myself it will void the warranty

    Hi, that is the official line (Acer policy) in reality the warranty will not be voided if you just upgrade the battery, RAM and SSD unless as I described above touch other components or cause damage to the screws, motherboard, panel or sockets/ports.

    An example of this official line/vendor policy: I bought a new SUV recently (Toyota gas Fortuner) and the car would not start after not using it for some time due to a ridiculously small lead acid battery installed of only 45Ah (regular car battery). When I complained to the Toyota main office manager, I was warned that if I changed that battery the Toyota warranty/free services would be voided for my car. I changed the battery to 75Ah and no issues on free Toyota service/promos afterwards (and no more starting issues). 😉
