Spin 3 SP313-51N-50R3 Battery Not Detected

This laptop has set unused and not connected to the charger for about 1 1/2 years. It was working OK the last time it was used. Now, it is not charging the battery and displays "Battery Not Detected" when the pointer is hovered over the Windows taskbar battery icon. I removed the bottom and disconnected and reconnected the mainboard battery connector, then replaced the bottom and plugged in the charger, which is the stock brick-type 65 watt USB-C charger that came with the laptop. It still is not charging. The battery status LED on the right side flashes amber when plugged in. With the charger plugged in, the laptop works OK, aside from being extremely slow to boot up and not charging the battery.

Other than again reseating the battery connector, is there any other troubleshooting that I can do to find out if the problem is a bad battery or a problem with the laptop?

Thank you!

The RTC/BIOS battery of the SP313-51N laptop is a sealed rechargeable battery that you can buy like that and replace the whole battery. DO NOT open the plastic warping as this battery is a one unit battery and plug (see caption below) and you don’t need to replace just the battery inside. Which frame are you talking about as the SP313-51N bottom and LCD top case is made of plastic, there might be some metal framing, but the base is all plastic material. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.

The battery discharged to zero and the Smart chip inside the battery will have disabled the battery and cannot be charged anymore, get a new battery or run a Battery report that will probably confirm this (red box, picture)

How to create a battery report; paste this in the command prompt: powercfg /batteryreport and open the report with your Edge browser, right click and select "Print to Microsoft PDF", attach the report to your reply, type @Puraw or use "Quote" when you reply so I will get an alert.

I apologize for not replying sooner. The battery was the problem. I had to buy a battery without further troubleshooting. Apparently, during my early troubleshooting, it started downloading and installing a Windows update and crashed. I was not able to get into Windows to try the shell powercfg /batteryreport command.

I replaced the battery, and was able to bet into the Bios on battery power after charging it. I am now waiting for the owner (I am the family "IT guy", not a pro) to get the Microsoft account info to me so that I can fix that problem.

I do have two more questions: While I had the laptop open, I was planning to replace the CMOS backup battery. It appears to be sealed in place with some sort of plastic wrap. Is ir a rechargeable battery? If not, is it safe to cut open that seal and then cover it with electrical non-conductive tape?

Also, why is the frame magnetic? I was surprised that the front corner was magnetic. I have an identical laptop but never noticed that.

    Thank you for the help!

The front edge of the laptop, about 1 1/2 inches in from each front corner

That could be the hinge area as the hinge is secured to the bottom and top case of the laptop, as its impossible that "front edge of the laptop, about 1 1/2 inches in from each front corner" is metal

This is the back left edge of the laptop and that is where the hinge is, the front edge is shown above in the bios battery captioon and iyt looks like plastic to me.
