Brand new Acer Chromebook Plus 514 did not power on after a few days...

I have several chromebooks so I'm not a newbie.

I just bought a brand new Acer Chromebook Plus 514 from Costco. After charging and with the power cord connected, it powered on (and off) fine. However, after a few days, it didn't power on by the button (even with a full battery) unless I pressed REFRESH + power button. Then, it powered on (and off) normally for a few days then again, wouldn't power on unless REFRESH+power.

I knew about the ship mode. It was obviously already out of shipping mode (when the power cord was connected the first time and powered on). But what caused it to not power on after a few days? Yes, the battery was fully charged. It sounds like it automatically went back to shipping mode? (yes, I already tried to plug in the power cord to the left and also to the right side)

Thank you for any help or suggestions. If not, I'll return it back to Costco. I hope not, I had several Acer before and I love them.

By the way, I had several Acer chromebooks before and they never did what I described above.

The laptop might need a hard reset but for this you need to open the laptop's back cover and unplug the main battery to rest it. Otherwise have a look at this guide "How To Reset An Acer Chromebook" if you can't get the Chromebook powered on after all this send you laptop to Acer Tech Support in your country, good luck and hope this helps you out.

Thanks Steven, I'm not going to open the back cover to void the warranty (even I'm more than capable to :-) ). I can always return it back to Costco US to get a full refund within 90 days and get another brand new one, instead of sending it back to Acer for repair.

As you said, my Acer sounds very very likely that it went back into 'shipping mode' after a few days. Pressing REFRESH+power always worked and then it went back to shipping mode after a few days.

There must be a software solution but so far Acer tech support was absolutely useless. I would think that it's to their benefit to solve this with me on the phone/email/forum so they can save the cost or repair/return. The 1st thing Acer tech support suggested was to send it back for repair. Genius (not!). I can return it back to Costco and get 100% refund, why would I want to repair a brand new Chromebook?

    Thanks again!
