My touchpad is not working and the relevant function key - Fn 7 - is unresponsive.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hi @stephen1111 are you pressing Fn + F7 correctly (not pound 7)?

How do I enable or disable the touchpad on my computer? - Acer Community

    Regards.

Also, if you are in media mode with the keyboard, you use F7 not Fn-F7.

Check your device manager and see if there are any yellow triangles.

Check this out, to make sure it is not blocked:

-right click on start - run: regedit

    -navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTPEnh

-right click on "SynTPEnh" and create a new "DWORD" value named "DisableIntPDFeature"

-right click on the name - modify

-change the value information to "33" in hexadecimal - accept

    -close the registry and reboot.

Repeat the process at the user level:
    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synaptics\SynTPEnh

Alejandro, In recent months windows can sometimes not find my camera. (I checked just now and it could be found). I don't know whether problems like this and the touchpad issue derive from the fact that I upgraded the PC to Windows 11 (because Microsoft said my machine was compatible) but only recently found out that Acer does not produce Windows 11 software for this machine (Only Windows 10)

Windows 10 drivers, softwares can generally be installed on Windows 11, as both operating systems share similar core architectures. However, Windows 11 has higher system requirements and is optimized for newer hardware, which may affect compatibility with older drivers. The primary differences between the two OS versions lie in user interface design and enhanced features in Windows 11, such as improved security and performance capabilities. Windows 10 can also support these improvement microsoft doing it for win11 only. So, Acer doesn't need to provide driver specially for windows 11 as both are same.

    As for touchpad issue,

    1. Did you try to install touchpad drivers from Acer website for your specific model? You may have to install serial I/O driver before touchpad if available. Ensure Windows is updated and touchpad is turned on from windows settings .
    2. Windows may automatically disable the touchpad when a mouse is plugged in. So, try to remove mouse and check. This setting is found in Windows touchpad setting from where we can enable touchpad.
    3. Check bios setting related to touchpad
    4. Open Device Manager, expand "Mice and other pointing devices," right-click your touchpad, and select Update Driver or Uninstall device (then restart).

    Hi Gaming6698

I have located on the Acer website the touchpad drivers and downloaded them. But I don't know how to install them. Where should I put them? Can you advise?

There should be 2 touchpad driver files available. Extract each file one by one, run the setup as an administrator, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Additionally, check the driver page again to see if you find any driver named "Serial I/O." If you do, download and install it first, before installing the touchpad drivers. The installation setups are the same.

Restart laptop in last after installation

    Hi Alejandro.

Thankyou very much for your help. I spoke with Acer. They said that the touchpad problem was not so difficult but that fixing the camera (which comes and goes) is probably more complicated. So, in the end, I sent the machine to their repair shop. But I have learnt several things in our communication and thank you very much for your willingness to help.

    best wishes

    Stephen
