Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 not booting after installing NVME SSD ( acer Predator GM7000)

I've tried it both the pre installed SSD and the GM7000 connected to my laptop as well as only the GM7000 connected. I keep getting a blue screen saying inaccessible_boot_device.

This seems to be a common issue with acer laptops based on googling it. How do I fix this?

I have Windows 10 installed on the GM7000 which I cloned from another NVME. Is this the reason why?

Th reasons for the BSOD error of "INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DRIVE" could be from the following issues:

    • File system initialization could not recognize the data on the boot device.
    • Device parameters for the boot device are damaged, corrupt, or invalid.
    • Boot Configuration Data (BCD) for the boot device is damaged, corrupt, or invalid.
    •  If an error occurred during initial system installation, the OS may have been installed on an unsupported disk controller, or a valid driver for a non-standard disk controller may not be valid or available.

Go to and follow this guide @ "How to Fix an INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE BSOD in Windows 11 or 10" as you should be able to analyze and fix this boot M.2 SSD drive issue problem. Btw, I would NOT operate this excellent Predator Helios Neo PHN16-xx that you have on the Win-10 OS as this laptop is designed and has all the appropriate drivers, bios and firmware for the Win-11 23H2 latest versions operating system which Win-10 doesn't have, and Win-11 is the best OS that this laptop operates on, and that could be another factor why you are getting this BSOD. Good luck.

I think Windows 10 might be the issue, should I try upgrading to Windows 11? I don't want to do a clean install since I have to keep all my programs/files.

If you can do a Win-11 upgrade with keeping all the old files then do that, but that is not as good an install as a clean install of Win-11.

What I suggest is to do a Win-11 upgrade within the Win-10 oS that you have, then and after the upgrade, backup all your valuable files from old Win-10 OS and then either do a reset by doing the following:

Settings>System>Recovery>Reset this PC > then at the bottom screen use the 2nd option Remove everything, as that will rest the Win-11 OS to default ettings and will delete all Win-10 carried on settings from your previous Win-10 OS.

But imo your best option is to do a Clean Install of Win-11 23H2 version, as for a top laptop like the Predator Helios Neo 16 that you have Win-11 23Hs version and having the last bios version and all the firmware installed will make your laptop perform perfectly and it will be a top gaming high end platform for you to use and enjoy for years. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

But what's the point of this if I'm going to delete all the programs I need for when I upgrade to Windows 11? That's the whole reason I'm trying to get my NVME to boot via upgrading to Win 11

NO, you do "Settings>System>Recovery>Reset this PC > then at the bottom screen use the 2nd option Remove everything > after you have backed everything up from your old Win-10 not before!
